David Beckham Back in Milan from Galaxy

David Beckham, trying to cement a spot in the England national team for next year's World Cup, is once again on loan from the LA Galaxy and will play for AC Milan until January. His last bout in Italy caused controversy back in LA.

However, one of Galaxy's owners, Tim Leiweke, said: "If David's not playing over here [in Europe] in January, he's not going to be on the national team during the World Cup. So we would be honoured to do that again if it helps David..."

think Beckham has to be in the national's eleven at the world championship for without him the team would be weaker.

  did it work
I know LA Galaxy recruited Beckham to try to increase the popularity of soccer in the US...did it work?

Also, how does Beckham playing for AC Milan secure his spot on England's team? AC Milan isn't an English team...
Sports politics suck

  and what about Onyewu
Currently he plays for AC Milan, but he is on the US national team...will they make him play in America in January in order to secure his position on the US team?

I am not a "Becks" fan at all. I think it is insane the amount of money the Galaxy paid for him. Then as they were coming over here what a HUGE deal it was..blah di blah Posh N Becks. They didn't get the royal treatment they did back home and I am sure that is why all these loans are happening and then the injury, total crap if you ask me.

I grew up with cousins that played Soccer back in the 70's,80's and 90's and I wish the sport would have been more popular then. My one cousin was so good at it that he played on his Colleges team and they thought he might go pro out of the states until he shattered his leg in his senior year. That was mid to late 80's and my other cousin was working on it too, but never was as good as the older one. The boys played at school in Tehran until they were forced to leave and come back here.

But sorry and back to your first question I would say the answer is a huge N O Beckham did not increase the popularity of soccer here, if anything I hear less about it now and many high schools are taking it off their athletic deptartments.
