CBS Says Number of Swine Flu Cases Is Exaggerated

CBS news is reporting that individual state-tallies indicate that H1N1 is not as widespread as once thought.

In July, the CDC unexpectedly told states to end swine flu testing. They rationalized that the government had already declared it an epidemic and that resources were needlessly used.

States get a chance to provide input on the decision. Public health officials disagreed with the decision because the mutating virus has a different epidemiology and a higher fatality rate.

It´s a farce it´s not as bad as they say. Just a bunch of fear mongering by the government

Let´s say you´re right. What, then, would the purpose of the fearmongering be? Pure malevolence?

I mean, some people argued that the Bush administration used fear of terrorism to manipulate support for its administration and agenda. What, then, would the Obama administration be trying to get people to do as a result of their fear of H1N1?

that should be obvious... PROFIT...

they are the most profitable industry and have bought about 33% more influence over the US as even the energy industry.

similar to the bush admin´s relationship with the defense and engery industries which combined have about the same dollar influence on the US governemnt as the pharmasuetical/health industry.

even using pure statistics, it rather easy to see this is being hyped up, and little more than fear mongering for profit, just for a different industry now.

The reason is always profit, there is no money in cures and thats why stuff you buy in stores sucks/is poor quality. So you buy another one or their "purchase protection plans."

There is ALWAYS something to be scared of in the news. Sars? Westnile? Mad cow? avian flu? Whats next is obviously goat flu. How many people died from that in america? and it was called an epidemic! The plague was an epidemic!

AccessG says swine flu is exaggerated, period.

Seriously, if my brother can survive it with his asthma and the complications thats given him all his life, they are either mis-diagnosing it or its not as bad as it sounds. Him and a bunch of colleagues got it from his boss. Three of them left their jobs after that because the boss was a dick. This was backed up by the fact he, the boss, was told he had swine flu and went back to work 2 weeks before he was supposed to.

  Profit?

What kind of profit are they really going to make, though? I mean, my county just got 3,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine. I can do the math -- they´re going to make about $30,000 to $50,000 off my entire county.

Profit as a motive for this seems far-fetched. Is it just impossible to imagine that they´re simply being overly cautious?

vaccinations are MULTI-BILLION dollar industry, and a HUGE segment of pharmasueticals:

http://www.impactpress.com/...

...esspeciallty since most people get DOZENS of them throughout their lives... many of which are MANDATORY at birth, unless say your amish in which case you didn´t uses a medical facility they have jurisdiction over, or some other way around the mandatory vaccinations between days-months after birth and throughout school life.

" Is it just impossible to imagine that they´re simply being overly cautious?"

is it impossible that THEY are, yes, THEY should know better... but they prey on the overly cautious, the germophobes, people industries that are strictly run (heathcare, emergency response, military, schools) many of which in many parts of the US there is a push for mandatory vaccinations with litterally thousands of claims to such, though its largely ignored in the media... probably not considered "newsworthy".

specifically the swine flu vaccine makers stand to make about $50 BILLION dollars worldwide from the vaccines, ANNUALLY... tell me thats not a profit motive for causing panick?

Well, the source seems to suggest that a lot of concerned public health officials fear that not a big-enough deal has been made of H1N1:

"Some public health officials privately disagreed with the (Centers for Disease Control´s) decision to stop testing and counting, telling CBS News that continued tracking of this new and possibly changing virus was important because H1N1 has a different epidemiology, affects younger people more than seasonal flu and has been shown to have a higher case fatality rate than other flu virus strains."

I just think that a certain mindset has run amok -- that everything the government does, every action it takes, must have a sinister motivation. I´m all for calling out officials when they do something wrong, but is it productive to assume that everything they do serves some nefarious purpose?

this is very real but hyped hyped hyped !

and apparently you missed the whiole point of the article (entitled "For Your Health or
Their Profit?
The Shadow Relationship Between Government and Global Vaccine Manufacturers") to point out an exaggerated claim i´ve debunked using statistic on the seasonal flu and swine flu; that being that it´s more deadly overall, which clealy hasn´t been the case.

not to mention some places are counting any flu death as swine flu as a result of:
"In July, the CDC unexpectedly informed states to stop testing for swine flu. They rationalized that the government
had already declared it an epidemic and that resources were needlessly used."

the CDC, a GOVERNMENT agency, DIRECTLY had a hand in creating the hype, whether by intent or ignorance by issuing by telling state not to test for swien flu, thus causing an inflation in the number of cases which were used to by the media by and large which created a false panick amongst the people... reason... $50 billion dollars worldwide... this is bigger than america, these are transnational mega-corporations like many industries they are firmly entreched in the government one way or another; campaign contributions, lobbyists, previous involvement of politicans or other governemnt office holders with those companies.

it not matter of the government being neferious so much as them being controlled by big business and special intrest in virtually any and every aspect; banking, war/defence, food production, insurance, pharmasueticals...

its all for profit... the government has simply become their means of imposing their will on the people.

I´m surprised that the radical right isn´t telling their lemmings not to take the H1N1 shot because it is designed to turn everyone into a socialist Obama lover.

i did this article almost 4 days ago

but for some reason it was blocked. why? it was blocked 20 minutes before this one was written - taken from the same link, and it´s almost written the same exact way as well. wtf?

anyways, don´t believe the hype, 96% of swine flu cases are either influenza A or just a head and chest cold. i´ve posted this where i work and people are so astonished by it, they wonder why the media and the government are making such a big deal about it. i would say as a rough estimate 90% of the people i´ve talked to about it don´t believe it´s an epidemic, or dangerous at all for that matter. also, a few people said they actually had swine flu, and i asked them if they tested them, and they all said no. i asked how bad it was, and they said it sucked but it was gone after a week.

the swine flu is a Farce. stop watching the news, stop reading newspapers....

the shot is Poison. do Not get it! or at least do some research on the side effects of it before you get it and make your own decision, otherwise do Not get it!

  by: djskagnetti     10/28/2009 11:24 PM
  and yes, for profit!

say only 5% of americans are duped into getting the shot. thats 15,000,000 people (out of 300M) X $29.99
=
$449,850,000
and that´s just america....

there is something awfully strange going on. I saw your article and even commented on it. I saw it again today but it is gone again. And I got an email saying that my summary was going to be blocked because the source is no longer valid or not matching the summary. I hope that this is not a hack job.

well, they´re telling people that the vaccine gives them the flu, and night terrors, and cancer. so they´re on the right track.

  Fearmongering ...

... makes the government stronger, giving them an excuse for draconian laws, and those corrupt SOBs who advise it, very wealthy. Many of them are connected to the industries who get the contracts as a result of their scare campaigns with the full compliance of the major mass-media whores who also profit handsomely.

The scarier or more sensational the "news", the more ads the people who read it will see - which in the final analysis, is all they care about anyway.

The public is also to blame for having a single-digit IQ and learning nothing from prior experience, regardless of how many tabloids they read.

If you think sex sells - propagation of fear, uncertainty and doubt is a far, far more lucrative business.
