Elder Monk Beats 68-Year-old Nun to Death

In Banteay Meanchey, Cambodia, Pov Ron,68, confessed to beating a 68-year-old nun to death with a piece of firewood. The nun allowed pigs to eat from Pov's rice bowl and this caused an "uncontrollable anger" in Pov which resulted in murder.

Two days earlier, two monks beat a fourth-year medical student to death because he had chastised the monks for drinking palm wine (a strong wine made from palm trees).

Chhith Sophay, the chief monk, expressed alarm at the most recent killing, as well as the potential damage such violence could cause to the Buddhist faith.

  WOAH!

Shaohu- I almost told you earlier that I wasn´t that shocked anymore about what goes on there, still very interested just getting acclimated. Then you show this! Drunk Monks all of a sudden become killer monks. I think that the monks there have a drinking problem that is not being addressed. I am sure that there will be some people who would use this to their advantage and try to point out these monks represent the majority.

Quite right. AS a Buddhist I despair at this sort of thing. It´s just what some people need to paint all Buddhists. What happened to The Middle Way?

"potential damage such violence could cause to the Buddhist faith."

I think it is a bit late now because now we all know just how depraved these so called monks are.
