A study done by neuroscientists at UC Irvine has found that bad driving may be determined, at least in part, by your genetics.
The study, published in the journal Cerebral Cortex, found that a gene variant that limits a protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) keeps people from performing their best, and may contribute to poor driving ability.
Dr. Steven Cramer, a neurology associate professor, said: "These people make more errors from the get-go. I'd be curious to know the genetics of people who get into car crashes. I wonder if the accident rate is higher for drivers with the variant."
