Tricky the coyote managed to cheat death with only a few scrapes after being wedged between the radiator and bumper of Tevyn and Daniel East's Honda Fit in a crash at 75 miles per hour. They never stopped because they assumed whatever they hit died.
"Right off the bat, we knew it was bad We thought the story was over," he said. Tricky spent 600 miles and eight hours in the car, even two stops for more gas. It occurred along I-80 at night on October 12 as they neared the Nevada border from Utah.
"[He] saw fur and the body inside the grill," said Tevyn. "I was trying to keep some distance. Our assumption was it was part of the coyote - it didn't register it was the whole animal." Wildlife officials came to take Tricky, but it later escaped from their care.
