Tipsy could not resist fermented apples and munched herself into a heck of a drunken stupor. She was found with not a leg under her, rolling about in the orchard.
When she was found, Tipsy was making a deafening shriek. She was immediately rushed to Prickly Ball Hedgehog Hospital in Newton Abbot. As she woke, she had the most dreadful menace of a hangover.
Ann McCormack, who transferred Tipsy to the hospital, said: "This is definitely the first drunk hedgehog I have found."
When someone is drunk here we say he was as drunk as a newt for some reason. One way it could have transpired from, may go back to Victorians era, when the professional Victorian mourners known as newts, had to take a drink at each funeral to be considered courteous, which maybe caused them to wobble side to side a bit like a newt. Then we have drunk as a skunk.
