Fail: Carjackers Discover They Can´t Drive a Stick Shift

Western Australia: Three women aged 32, 33, and 38 are facing a charge of stealing a motor vehicle after an attempted carjacking failed badly. The 33-year-old is also facing an aggravated robbery charge.

According to Sergeant Greg Lambart one of the women stepped into the path of the vehicle while another pulled the driver out by her hair. The trio attempted to make off with the car but only got 150m. The woman driving was unable to drive a stick.

Police were summoned by onlookers and the trio was arrested. The 27-year-old owner of the car, who was traveling home after work, is reportedly shaken by the incident but sustained no injuries.

  Haha
 Fools!

Didn´t realise Australia was another country with predominantly automatic cars, over here they´re a bit of a rarity!

  Sigh
I´m not surprised to see women in other parts of the world can´t drive either.

  see....
thats one reason to drive a stick shift car... not only do you have more control over there car, but it deters stupid people from stealing it.

  I´m waiting for...
the media to chime in saying the carjackers rights were violated and want to outlaw stick shifts... Glad I have one!

  Glad I have one too
Now I don´t think I´ll ever go back to an automatic.

  Yes
Double, the traditional solution is much safer because if the automatic system goes wrong then nothing at all i can do.

 Bastards deserved it.

  Nothing beats
a manual land rover on a country lane. Such a fun drive. Automatic just isn´t the same experience.

and yet, insurance companies charge us less. Out of the goodness of their hearts, I suppose?

  This happene...
...to my friend. They pointed the gun, got in, then realized it was a manual transmission. So they thought for a bit, had him drive around the block, then threw his keys in an abandoned lot and ran away.....lol. Stick shift as auto theft deterrent, who-da thunk it?

  Only thing better
The only thing better than this is when some idiot tried bike-jacking me. I guess he never road a sport bike before because he gave way too much throttle and let the clutch out way to quick and went up and over. He did enough damage that the insurance company totaled it but it was fun beating the crap out him while we waited for the cops to show up. "I swear officer, he sustained all those injuries when he flipped over."

I think we deserve an extra discount for putting up with all the male drivers!

I can drive automatic or manual and I had to pass my parent´s driving test before I could apply for my license. Most of us grew up in a different world compared to the Driver´s ed of today. I know I´m not the only one who knew how to drive at a young age, hell I was driving a riding lawnmower as far back as I can remember and I have pictures of me driving my quad that has to be 24 or 25 years ago. Fun times!

  I find this hilarious.
Everyone I know drives stick. I dont even know someone that buys automatic.

Also reminds me of an SN story where at McDonalds or something someone tried to do this to a woman, her son ended up getting the gun off one and shooting them.
