Traditional leaders in South Africa have said they will be slaughtering animals to bless the stadiums that will be used in next year's soccer World Cup. The leaders want to do something special for the event, the first in Africa.
Zolani Mkiva, an official for cultural events in South Africa, said: "We sacrifice the cow for this great achievement and we call on our ancestors to bless, to grace, to ensure that all goes well. It's all about calling for the divinity to prevail…"
The tournament is expected to attract 500,000 people to the African continent, as it's being co-hosted there. The World Cup Local Organisation Committee is yet to respond to the formal request to make the sacrifice.
