According to officials in Bulgaria, a dangerous new craze is taking over the country. Given the name "Russian road roulette", drivers set themselves up to run red lights at heavily-trafficked intersections without hitting cars or pedestrians.
Bets of up to €5,000 can be placed on any one event, according to the chief prosecutor's office. The game was first reported in the media, and was started over the summer in Bulgaria's capital, Sofia.
Racers and gamblers are alerted to where the events are taking place via text message, depending on where there is the least police presence.
