Russian Road Roulette: Betting Ring Sees Death-Defying Red Light Jumping

According to officials in Bulgaria, a dangerous new craze is taking over the country. Given the name "Russian road roulette", drivers set themselves up to run red lights at heavily-trafficked intersections without hitting cars or pedestrians.

Bets of up to €5,000 can be placed on any one event, according to the chief prosecutor's office. The game was first reported in the media, and was started over the summer in Bulgaria's capital, Sofia.

Racers and gamblers are alerted to where the events are taking place via text message, depending on where there is the least police presence.

I´m fine with idiots who put their lives at risk
but it´s messed up that they are endangering the lives of the other drivers. With russian roulette only the dumpass with the gun is in danger...with this idiotic Bulgarian gambling, a lot of people are at risk.

In all my travels I´ve never met a Bulgarian outside of Europe.

I´ve met 4 people from Kazakhstan and one from Uzbekistan in Asia...but never a Bulgarian.
