Boyfriend Bails on Wedding, Woman Calls 911

A Clarksville, TN woman has been arrested for a second time in as many weeks for making non-emergency phone calls to 911. This week's arrest stems from repeated 911 calls stating that her boyfriend was no longer willing to marry her.

In addition, officers report that Hee Orama, 34, was arrested last week after calling 911 numerous times to report that she could not find her car.

Orama claimed that the man had lied to her about wanting to get married. Officers went to her house four separate times, warning her about her abuse of 911, then issuing a citation, and finally arresting her.

  And folks here wonder
why some cops turn violent? If I were a cop and kept getting called out on fake 911 calls by the same person, impeding my ability to get to a real emergency (you know, robberies, people getting attacked, trivia like that), I´d take out my billy club and explain in pointed Anglo-Saxon English exactly when to call 911 and when NOT to.

Sheesh.

  no-brainer
Dear Hee, Your intended left you because you were arrested last week for calling 911 numerous times over the car being lost in a parking lot. Most people actually walk around and look for their car instead of calling 911 once, let alone to the point of arrested. Those of us reading about your last two weeks actually applaud him for getting out now, instead of when you are one day imprisioned for this habit. We can only use the last two weeks to judge your behavior plus what kind of person you are and it is with that which we can say that you probably need to learn what stop calling 911 means and get some help.
From, The Internets.

I don´t know how everyone elses 911 system works, but in our town it is used for all calls, including non-emergency calls. Even if you are calling to report a deer that is laying in the middle of the road they make you call 911. I mean if she is that insistant with the police to keep calling after being arrested last week I am not surprised that her husband-to-be left.

  Hee Orama
I can´t quite place the name. Hee sounds Vietnamese or SE Asia, but Orama doesn´t. Orama sounds African or Arabian.

I wondered if someone was trying to spell the last name phonetically instead of it being the actual spelling?

  Hmm.
What if she just moved to this country and speaks little English and has been taught to call 911 in an emergency? What if she relies so much on her husband because she hasn´t grasped the English language yet? There is many variables here and that news article fails at collecting any past background information on this woman.

Whoever the reporter or write is should be fired. Never judge a book by its cover. There could be more behind this than the news media reported. Don´t be so fast to judge guys. I´m surprised no one above me even thought about it. I´m not defending her and I´m not against her; just being observant.

  @Quintessence
Her calls weren´t ignored by the police, they came out to the scene for the parking lot incident and even explained to her that she can´t call 911 for losing her car in a store parking lot. She called them back enough to be told she was being cited and then called back again, which led to the first arrest.
The next week her boyfriend left her and she called 911 and they explained to her they can´t make the boyfriend stay, that it was not an emergency and that it was a civil matter. She again kept calling them back like the week before and again they told her they were citing her and to stop calling. What does she do? She calls back, but this time doesn´t say what is wrong at all only that she needed the police, she was arrested. If the police would have showed up and there was a reason they wouldn´t have charged her for the second time.

I understand she looks Asian, but we don´t know that she is from another country or born in the states. Even if she was new to the US, I am pretty sure she understood not to call 911 the week after she was charged for the first offense.

I do however think that the 911 supervisor should not exaggerate some of the things she tried to pass off as the truth. The stuff about the calls costing excessive hours to address them, that the police was sent in emergency traffic with lights and sirens and possibly endangering people, and that two or three officers are sent to each call. If that was the truth they would encourage people to call the police station instead of 911 and they would send someone out when they could...wait the only way to get a cop or even call to inform police they need a report for proerty damage to a car or house for the insurance company they tell you to call 911 here. They also charge per call now in certain places. I pay $2 a month extra on my land-line and if I call from my cellphone no matter where I am or what it´s for it is $2 a call.

If you don´t accept non-emergency calls and direct them all to 911 I am not paying for your decision. I would even encourage Miss Orama from the summary to fight the charges if she had real problems.

Oh I wasn´t trying to be offensive with my argument was just pointing out some points missed out in the article. I´m all about the facts minus the opinions really. And I have to agree after seeing multiple police cars here in my city sitting at a 7/11 for hours on end or even in parking lots. This really wasn´t a waste of taxpayers money in a sense. Granted yes she shouldn´t of called 911 all the time like she did.

And actually I do agree that perhaps if some of the calls might have been an emergency she might have a case in court. I actually was going to mention that. Well your reply is why I love this site. Hard to find mature, intelligent people to converse with; let alone argue with these days lol.
