An injection in the experimental phase has seen positives results in curing pre-cancerous tumors in the vulva. A vaccine to treat intraepithelial neoplasia, it is unrelated to Cervarix or Gardasil. This new vaccine is will help women already infected.
Methods such as chemotherapy, lasers, and surgery are usually ineffective in 75% of tumors, which are connected to the HPV-16 virus. Tests with 20 women found that symptoms had vanished in nine women, including a 10-year-old tumor.
Results on six women discovered a 50 percent improvement after one year. One patient died of an unexpected heart attack before her assessment. This ongoing research is being made by Dr. Gemma Kenter of Leiden University.
