U.S. Muslims Condemn ´Cowardly´ Attack at Fort Hood Army Base

The prominent Muslim civil rights group CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) has condemned yesterday's rampage shooting at Fort Hood military base in Texas (SN reported) in a statement released the same day.

"We condemn this cowardly attack in the strongest terms possible and ask that the perpetrators be punished to the full extent of the law," CAIR announced. "No religious or political ideology could ever justify or excuse such ... violence."

"The attack was particularly heinous in that it targeted the all-volunteer army that protects our nation," the announcement stated. "American Muslims stand with our fellow citizens" in prayer and condolences for victims and their families.

Thanks! I remembered how people just seemed to ignore the condemnations of the 9/11 attacks from the Muslim world as a whole and thought this deserved to be acknowledged.

Thats exactly what those ideologies do.

I totally disagree. No religion says you should kill innocent people.

Like I said, it´s not the fault of religions; it´s the fault of people who twist it.

It´s like the argument used against gun control advocates -- guns aren´t inherently evil or good; it´s all about what you do with them. Thoughts and ideas are the same. People have used religion to do wonderful things and to do terrible things. Critics of religion only want to talk about the terrible things people do in the name of religion, however.

Apparently, this man´s religion was more important to him than innocent human life. That is where religion leaves me cold. Leave me out of it.

The Muslims can´t have it both ways.

Either they own up to wanting to destroy and subjugate the West or they rat out these fundamentalists. These guys have to go to their mosque five times a day so someone had to notice.

  Just curious

Has anyone confirmed his motive? Are we sure that this wasn´t just another guy going postal at work who just happened to be a Muslim? I mean if this guy was a Christian would we be saying that this was a Christian attack?

As I was reading your comment, I was also watching another Coward Bastard on CNN who went berserk on employees at a place, where he was fired 2 years ago on performance issue. 2 years ago!! He shows up today and he has already killed 2 so far and many injured....

His name is Jason Rodriguez, a Catholic Christian. Was it because of his religion???

No we haven´t and that is why I mentioned on the other summary would would happen once people read or heard his name. I am not watching Fox, but if someone does will they let us know if his being muslim is a big deal on their "opinion talkers". Be prepared because the guy below says he knows how it went down. ;-)

Then there was the guy that said he had a turban on and was chanting because... you know ...´someone´ that I know told my cousin´s baby daddy and he is sleeping with the sister of the mailman that watched Fox and said Glen Beck had some kind of butt surgery because the Democrats tried to make him gay AND the fact that Obama Isn´t a real citizen because he is a muslim and all muslims are related and want to kill white Americans so this guy went to Wal-Mart...Oh you mean the Fort Hood story! My Bad!!(it´s a joke ppls)

We are both proud and saddened by this event. Proud that Kimberly Munley did a very heroic thing in stopping what could have been a much worse event. Law enforcement across the country and around the world have her in our minds and thoughts as she battles tonight in a hospital with the wounds received during the line of duty.

Ben, that is a rather sweeping statement. There is a religion that condones violence on ´kafirs´ (non-believers). It stops when they turn believers. Pls. do check it out.

Check out these Quran verses:

8:60 Hence, make ready against (unbelievers) whatever force and war mounts you are able to muster, so that you might deter thereby the enemies of God, who are your enemies as well, and others besides them of whom you may be unaware, [but] of whom God is aware; and whatever you may expend in God´s cause shall be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged.
8:61 But if they incline to peace, incline thou to it as well, and place thy trust in God: verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing!

Skcuss- I am glad you liked it. The rumors on some of the sites are just lies and hatred. There was a guy that said he was wearing a turban and shouting Allahu Akbar before he started shooting. I think that was on the link Ben provided. Now how did this person know that in the short time after the gunmans name was released? They couldn´t have because they were still on lockdown at the time the post was created and the news reported all the phone lines tied up and some people were having trouble texting their loved ones on the base.

I just got online so I´m not sure what the latest news is, but when I logged out there wasn´t anything like that reported by a witness.

"..ignore the condemnations of the 9/11 attacks from the Muslim world as a whole.."

The condemnation was from the american muslims. Not from the muslim world as a whole. In fact guys in the muslim world would carry pictures of bin laden in their wallet.

Right in the place where the picture of a girldfriend should be.

Since they are not allowed to have one.

  by: kmazzawi     11/07/2009 03:40 PM
  Actually there was plenty of

condemnation of 9/11 from muslims. Here´s one poll:
http://www.pensitoreview.com/...

But when the media and policitians in concensus try to sell war and hatred how many of them do you think received front page exposure?

And how many even bothered to see the condemnations in all the vengeful bloodthirst?

  Religion

Seriously? People are actually blaming religion. Wake up, this happened at an army base. A place where people are trained to remorselessly kill people for a profession and when one of them does just that, people blame religion. Seriously?

if he was screaming "Allahu Akbar" then perhaps religion had a thing or two do with it. Not that it makes all religius people the same..

TaraB:

I was watching all of the news channels when this attack was being reported. Just fro your information, Fox News did not make a big deal out of the attacker being a muslim, they were searching for a motive just like everyone else at the time.

Maxx20:b "Wake up, this happened at an army base. A place where people are trained to remorselessly kill people for a profession and when one of them does just that, people blame religion. Seriously?"

If you honestly believe that soldiers , saiilors, airmen or mariens are being trained to "remorselessly kill people" then you may very well be one of the most ignorant people I have ever come across. It is small minded civilians like yourself who perpetuate outright lies and demonize our troops. There are rules in place to insure that civilians arent hurt or killed in the process of war. Collateral damage will always be a factor in any war, but our troops are trained to act with restraint and use only the nessesary force to neutralize the threat. Don´t group this mass murderer in with honorable men and women serving their country.

Sorry Ben, but you´re wrong. Islam does say that you should kill innocent people. Particularly anyone who is a non-believer, has left islam or who says anything against it. You can keep your head in the sand if you wish...but there is tons of evidence (AKA FACTS) that support this.

Don´t shoot the messenger. Facts are facts. Normally, his religion would have been irrelevant, except for the fact that he killed in the name of his religion. That makes it relevant, a fact, the truth.

BTW, this Major was never deployed outside of the country, so this wasn´t some wartime breakdown. Also, he was a medical professional. His training on how to "remorselessly kill people" was at most the operation of a 9mm pistol.

  by: adhemar   11/10/2009 03:26 PM
  PTSD, really?

Major Hasan has NEVER been deployed and he is supposed to be suffering from PTSD. Aaaah... the refrain goes, he has been hearing things about the war. So have we. The entire US population should be suffering from Post-Traumatic stress if just hearing about it can do this to you. This is a Islamic Jihadist attack and no matter how much we sugar-coat it, it will remain just that. Nobody is calling for reprisals. But the sooner the military realizes the potential for harm the better. I don´t think any Muslim should be involved in this war in any shape or form. Let the flaming begin !

My motives aren´t in question. You seem to be the one implying "action". So unless you´re suggesting arresting all Muslims then you are suggesting violence against them.

Idiot Nation, other than my reply to Soul

Soul- Thank you for letting me know. I didn´t realise that you get Fox over there, you learn a new thing every day.

adhemar-"Here are a few articles for your enjoyment: (no bitching about sources)"

Says who? Telling me that just makes me prepared to do a lot of bitching because it is going to be some hate-filled kkk bullshit(I haven´t read it yet,let us see if I am correct).

Hell yes I was right, I don´t even know if I need to read anything other than the first one. This is nothing more than fear and ignorance allowed a mouthpiece. I am only shocked that he didn´t threaten to kill anyone who is a muslim or even looks like they are from the middle east.
"This is not a “man caused disaster”. It is what it is: an Islamic jihadist attack."

Ahh the second link accuses us of being afraid of Islam and says we have Stockholm Syndrome.

Jay and admahr(it looks more middle eastern spelled that way, I like it!)To give you a little FYI there ARE soldiers that have been given a Medical Discharge for PTSD diagnosis from our government before touching a foot in Iraq. I know it because a young lady I have been a mentor for since she was a young teen was a Medic who was given one. She is caucasion and nothing else, acceptable for the right wing Christian, honor student graduated with a 4.0 and knew from a young age she wanted to be a medic in the Army. She didn´t want the discharge either, she appealed, she lost and was discharged.

Admahr- VG is not acting like a troll, he asked you what you meant and truth be told it sure looks and acts like that is what you mean, what people in the first two links are trying to say "without saying it" and hell one even accused the President of the United States of being muslim yet once again.

There are more than a few idiots on here that if they had their way would wage war against the muslims in our own country. If that was to happen (war on our own soil when most of are men are in a Muslim nation) you might as well prepare for the Mayans to be right about 2012. You also know if you start a war on muslims exactly how many countries would be involved? You really need to have the FBI check YOU and YOUR choice in websites out.

TaraB, FoxNews is international. I´m sure a shudder went through you reading that...oh God, not an alternate point of view for the masses!

I appreciate your response, but based on what you´ve written you didn´t really read the articles.

As much as you seem to want the thought police to reign me in for my choice of media, the links are on-par with CNN...so the FBI will have to round up quite a few readers.

Umm unless you are SoulSerenity, then the Fox comment wasn´t towards you and it wasn´t even said in a rude manner when I posted it. I had asked anyone who had it on to let me know if the opinion talkers accused him of being a muslim after the news first broke.

This is EXACTLY what I said " I am not watching Fox, but if someone does will they let us know if his being muslim is a big deal on their "opinion talkers"."

So again unless you are Soul using two names, which would be sad since you two seem NOTHING alike, I don´t care what you were watching or where you were watching it and no I didn´t shudder because I don´t watch Fox and I don´t watch MSNBC. When I do watch News it often is BBC America or CNN which isn´t as liberal as so many like to falsely accuse,I think they have trouble with letters and somehow mean MSNBC. Fox, MSNBC and HLN are more of the talking heads, repeat the news reel stations.

"oh God, not an alternate point of view for the masses!-"I wasn´t writing to you and you assume what I was saying and what my reaction was. Too funny! I don´t care if anyone watches Fox like I once did because at least now they have admitted to the public that Bill O, Glenn, Hannity and Greta etc are not credible sources for the news, they are the exact same as Olbermann and whoever is on at MSNBC these days, they are all talking heads giving their opinions and we all know what opinions are like. ;-)

"I appreciate your response, but based on what you´ve written you didn´t really read the articles."

Oh I did read the first two and I got what they were saying just fine. Just to show you, the 1st guy was military (ret.) and said that in fact muslims should not be in the armed services because they are all Islamic jihadists. He´s a Lt. Colonel(ret). He also should be ashamed of the extremist views HE is putting forth and the potential damage it could cause both in the military, where many of our AMERICAN men and women are serving and their religion or their appearance doesn´t matter, and in our streets back here in the US.
He is scared of the muslims and of anyone that looks like they are from the middle east and the proof is in his words, same for the second link. I told you I didn´t read past that, there was enough hatred in the first to links that made me want to vomit. I will read the others JUST in case they are different. OK I read them all now and I found a part of your ABC link on the 2nd page, end of the article to be in a direct conflict with the other links even though the same thing about people knowing was reported. From ABC:

"The Army Chief of Staff, General George Casey, raised concerns over the weekend that innocent Muslim soldiers could suffer as a result of the shooting at Fort Hood.
"I think the speculation (on Hasan´s Islamic roots) could potentially heighten backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers," he said on ABC´s "This Week."

"As much as you seem to want the thought police to reign me in for my choice of media, the links are on-par with CNN...so the FBI will have to round up quite a few readers."

The thought police... that is cute, you hint to the fact that we should read your links that promote segregation of American citizens and feed into to the idea that all muslims are insurgents ,well at least the ones that look middle Eastern, and just to be sure anyone that looks middle eastern should be taken too even if they were born in America, just to be safe.
Wait CNN? The same CNN that you said is the liberal news machine? As for the links being on par with CNN the WND link you used for 3 of the 6 articles is nothing more than a place to hawk a certain book that is pushed at one to buy "Get "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That´s Conspiring to Islamize America," autographed, from WND´s Superstore."

Neither of those first two links are on par for much of anything except depraved rantings from those who are trying to spread fear and hate because of an American Citizen that for whatever reason that was showing up long before this horrific shooting snapped and took 14 too many lives with him. Just because he was muslim does NOT mean he was some plant inside the military and because of him we should discharge our American soldiers of middle east decent and those that are muslims. That is a really stupid idea and while you can applaud it all you want, it isn´t going to happen as long as more rational minds are working.

Can´t win in a battle of wits? Arrest them!
Sort of like several of the links you listed are suggesting we do that to our Muslim and Middle Eastern American citizens?

  by: TaraB     11/10/2009 11:39 PM
  @VermiciousG

I presume your last statement was a Freudian slip, it is not worth a response. I repeat what I said earlier." I don´t think any Muslim should be involved in this war in any shape or form". That, my educated friend, does NOT constitute killing. @TaraB, can´t believe you are defending a murderous Islamic terrorist.

I don´t buy your theory on PTSD. But even presuming that a small percentage of them are susceptible to it, how come nobody draws his gun, yells ´Jesus is my savior´ and blazes away? Hasan bought a gun a month back and enough ammo to take on an army. It would be self-defense if he expected the 1st Army to come calling. He has posted hate messages on the internet and thought that a suicide-bomber is a hero. I suppose you guys also subscribe to the view that 9/11 was all about controlling oil and an inside job.

  by: Jayman2000BC   11/11/2009 03:28 AM
  Jayman

"@TaraB, can´t believe you are defending a murderous Islamic terrorist."

Jayman- I took a break after I read this because what I was going to say would have surely gotten me banned, DO NOT mistake that my kindness to you in this reply is a sign of weakness or that I am in any way happy about what you wrote. It is only because of the respect I have for the staff and other members I don´t tell you what I think you are.

I am in no way ´sticking up´ for what Hasan has done. I don´t approve of what he has done at all and will glady watch him get the death penalty when he finally goes to trial. For you to suggest or inference how I feel and what I would like to see done to him is offensive, ignorant and clueless on your part. What I won´t do and I have stated since the first summary that was about this, is to accuse anyone of being a terrorist or a jihadist until there is SOLID proof of what is being said about him. I am not going to support hate-filled speech and some very ugly ideas from people that want to see all muslims discharged from the military, for all of our muslim citizens to be segregated and to add anyone of middle eastern lineage be they American citizens or not, into this segregation plan. We did something similar before, you might remember learning about it in history, let me refresh your memory oh about near 67 years ago... it was called the JAPANESE AMERICAN INTERNMENT! It was a ugly time in the history of the US and many of our so-called great people of the day are acting like you and several others and that is from fear, you are all afraid of what the middle
eastern person might be thinking or plotting against us!! From the wiki link on the internment(wiki twice in 1 day has never been cited by me).

"I don´t want any of them [persons of Japanese ancestry] here. They are a dangerous element. There is no way to determine their loyalty... It makes no difference whether he is an American citizen, he is still a Japanese. American citizenship does not necessarily determine loyalty... But we must worry about the Japanese all the time until he is wiped off the map." Lieutenant General John L. DeWitt. He also doubted Japanese American loyalty and administered the internment program, often telling papers that that "A Jap´s a Jap"

That sounds somewhat familiar if you switched a few key words. It was an embarrassment then and it is now. We must learn from our mistakes and not repeat them again. Hell they even went after Germans and Italians at a smaller number. Even the papers got into the fearmongering (QUOTE) "According to The Los Angeles Times: "A viper is nonetheless a viper whenever the egg is hatched - so a Japanese American, born of Japanese parents - grows up to be a Japanese, not an American. (ME)That too sounds familiar with a small change.
Let´s try another one that is familiar somehow:"General DeWitt and Colonel Bendetsen kept this information out of Final Report: Japanese Evacuation from the West Coast - 1942, which was written in April 1943 — a time when DeWitt was fighting against an order that Nisei soldiers (members of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and the Military Intelligence Service) were to be considered "loyal" and permitted into the Exclusion Zones while on leave."

Wow! Even with the internment camps those of Japanese, German and Italian descent stayed loyal to our great nation. Amazing isn´t it? This isn´t about Hasan anymore, let´s not be fools and play games Jay, call it like it is... people that are filled with fear are wanting our Muslim and Middle Eastern citizens either by birth or moved here want to see them put away where everyone else can be safe from the tens, no hundreds of thousands Islamic jihadists who are all secretly planning to take the US over. I´m not defending anyone, certainly not Hasan. I am also not defending what some of our Citizens would like to do to groups of people that have a different religion or a lineage that is different than theirs.

No, Not a slip at all.

Legitimate point:
"how come nobody draws his gun, yells ´Jesus is my savior´ and blazes away?"

Because for the last hundred years or so Christians(good christians) have been working toward bleeding out the hate. The problem(as I see it) is that the (fundamentilists)Muslims have been largely left in the dust.

They´ve no idea that the (western)world no longer gives a rat´s ass about s#!t that happenned 1,000 years ago. "They" are still thinking in 9th century hnyperbole and don´t even know that their thinking is well beyond outdated. In short, THEY ARE IGNORANT.

This guy wasn´t ignorant. He was exceptionally well educated and exceptionally well trained. This was a guy who wacked out at his job like postal workers do just because sometimes people wack out at their jobs.

Islam was just a semi-sub-concious excuse. If I went into work killing people and started screaming praises to Buddha they´d know I was off my nut because nobody kills anybody in the name of Buddha. EVER.

The guys a wacko. If he were Jewish he´d be a wacko, if he were christian he´d be a wacko, but regrettably he´s a Muslim which (understandably) makes him an easy target. A Wacko with a capital "W" but a wacko none the less.

"DO NOT mistake that my kindness to you in this reply is a sign of weakness or that I am in any way happy about what you wrote." Am I supposed to run for cover after reading that? Listen Tara, you can do all the name-calling that you want. Doesn´t bother me one bit.

I´ll tell you what will get you banned though - context, or the lack thereof. You ramble on about everything other than the issue at hand. You talk about the Japs, the Nazis, World War I,II - torrent of verbal diarrhea. I ask you one thing: WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH HASAN?? He defends Islamic terrorists on various websites, prepares for these murders well in advance and you want to tell us the the American people are to blame for the brutal murders he committed? I suppose the "Allah u Akbar" was his way of saying "What´s up". Inferring from your incredible theory, every Muslim in the US should be exposed to the same forces that affected Hasan. Are you telling us that there are more potential Hasans out there? If you do, it comes back to the point I am making. GET MUSLIMS OUT OF THE ARMY! If obfuscation is your motive, you ain´t kidding anyone. All I have EVER said about this issue is to NOT have Muslim soldiers fight the Afghan and Iraq wars. Is that so hard to comprehend? Stick to the subject in your replies. We are not debating the theory of evolution.

Exactly my point VG. Having said that would you then have a ´devout´ Muslim fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan alongside US troops and potentially kill fellow-Muslims?

"Stick to the subject in your replies." So then what subject should I stick to be? Hasan and the links he gave and I replied to? Or the disgusting, vile accusation that came out of nowhere? I will wait before I reply again so I know what I need to reply about. Oh one more question, what subject were you sticking to when you shot this out?
"@TaraB, can´t believe you are defending a murderous Islamic terrorist." Or this "you want to tell us the the American people are to blame for the brutal murders he committed?"
I´ll be wating to find out which reply you want.

Why wouldn´t I? The west has put devout Christians in the path of other devout Christians for... well, ever...

Muslims have proven themselves almost equally worthy of killing one another for no good reason just as much as Christians have.

But your point seems only just now to involve excluding Muslims from combat. Up till now you and adhemar seem to be suggesting taking them out back and putting one in the brain pan. Which would only serve to escalate matters and you gor-am well know it.

Islam does say it´s ok to kill non-believers. You have to read further on...

9:5 - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

But, how can this be since Surah 8 is saying leave them alone...

2:106 - "Whatever communications We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things?"

The contemporary meaning of this is if there is a contradiction, then the newest verse has precedence. The Koran is not in chronological order. It is arranged starting with the shortest verse and ending with the longest. Surah 8, which you referenced was actually the 87th verse written. Surah 9 that I referenced was the 92nd verse written. Hence, 9 was written after 8 making it the newest verse and therefore 9 would have precedence.

So, if you´re talking about a strict Muslim, killing of innocent non-believers is allowed usually (unless you have a prior agreement/treaty with them, etc). I suppose these Muslims could throw out Surah 9 entirely, but then this again begs the question would they still be Muslim?

I think it´s kinda interesting. Allah is perfect, but he does seem to change his mind often.

And the Old Testament is full of stuff like that, too. Most Christians don´t crush prostitutes with stones or banish men who can´t father children. Most Muslims live peaceful lives and don´t hurt anybody.

"Oh one more question, what subject were you sticking to when you shot this out?" I repeat the point that Muslims must not be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I suspect you might have got my point but pretend not to have because it doesn´t suit your arguments.

The bible says(correct me if I´m wrong) "Give unto Caesar what is Caesar´s but give unto God what is God´s."

So, pay your taxes everyone. Quit trying to wiggle out of them, conservatives.

"Oh one more question, what subject were you sticking to when you shot this out?" I repeat the point that Muslims must not be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I suspect you might have got my point but pretend not to have because it doesn´t suit your arguments.

My arguments? I replied to admehar because some people are hinting and not masked very well that we take the muslims and middle eastern Americans and "put them away" which is why internment was brought up. You did not ask me ANY questions or try to mentioned any point, you instead leveled an accusation at me that was vile and has no merit. Muslims and Middle Eastern citizens must certainly be allowed to continue with their jobs whever they are.

To stop anyone that practices a certain religion or looks like a certain "type´ of person is only allowing fear and paranoia to take control if our lives. In addition there is no way to tell who is muslim or not since there are people that practices who is not middle eastern. So if we take all the muslims out of Iraq and Afghanistan where will we be putting them at? If they aren´t doing their jobs over there they will be on bases. What about our military members that are caucasion and musim or of darker skin that isn´t muslim? How do we decide who we are going to assume is a terrorist because one idiot, who we still don´t know all of the evidence, did something horrific?

Should we act like Jasen Bruce did when he attacked Father Alexios Marakis? Make up lies that a surviellance video has captured the actual events. Beat a Greek Orthodox Priest up because you ´think´ he looks like a Muslim and chasing this man with with a tire iron as you yell "I caught a terrorist* over and over to 911?" Oh don´t forget that Marakis then should "Allahu Akbar." All this from a man who isn´t from the US and doesn´t speak english well at all.

The incidents you mention are equally reprehensible but does not make this attack any more palatable. In a military force of 1.4 million there are about 3000-odd muslims. Don´t tell me that the entire 1.4mil are deployed at any one time. This Hasan creep has done everything that any self-respecting Islamic Jihadist would do but calling him one sticks in the throat. Amazing! "I am a Muslim first and an American next". You can only hope he belongs to the lunatic fringe and there are not anymore of them around. Somehow, I find that hard to believe.
