A 59-year-old woman known simply as Alice was the victim of transient global amnesia (TGA) last year during a morning lovemaking session with her husband Scott. Sufferers of the rare neurological condition are usually at least 50 years of age.
Doctors at Johns Hopkins University say that the act of bearing down during orgasm can trigger amnesia by temporarily restricting the flow of blood to the brain's left hippocampus, according to data gathered from brain imaging done on TGA sufferers.
Alice kept repeating the same questions and comments until it slowed down to every 30 minutes, and within a few hours was back to normal, although the entire episode was a black hole. "From what I found out, there was an orgasm," she said.
