Switzerland Contemplating Military Weapons Export Ban

A proposal to prevent the export of military hardware manufactured in Switzerland is to be put to the vote. The export ban would not apply to civilian weapons. Two previous blanket bans on weapons exports have failed.

Swiss manufacturers have come out swinging against the proposal, saying that there will be conflicts internationally with or without their exports and claiming that the ban would cost the nation 10,000 jobs.

"We don't want Swiss weapons to be involved in wars any longer and we don't want Switzerland to export weapons that are used in conflicts that the majority of the Swiss population are not in favor of," said a spokesman for the group behind the vote.

if only all countrieswere so good about their politics.

"Swiss manufacturers have come out swinging against the proposal, saying that there will be conflicts internationally with or without their exports and claiming that the ban would cost the nation 10,000 jobs."

only because other countries like the US, russia, china anlong with many other nations will keep doing it.

most countries have no concept of peace, independence and neutrality in comparison to the swiss, they´re already beyond 50% renewable energy too.

i imagine most of the swiss population would support this measure, given their history of neutrality.

  I

think Switzerland would preserve its reputation of neutrality if the military weapons export would be stopped and 10,000 other jobs given.

Maybe when they return all thier illgotten wealth form the world criminals and the billions they gladly took from the Nazi German government, then will they get credit, before then, they still remain a criminal nation.

  I for

one, am ready to donate money for those who are going to lose jobs. If there is one good news, that I read today, it has to be this one.

In one of the threads, I had posted my rant, asking, who manufactures them? Who sells them? and why we dont want others to acquire them. This was in the case of Irans Nuclear, while USA gives them to Israel.

Now here is the country, that is washing it´s neutral slate clean, instead of turning a blind eye from it´s gains.

This is where a Country shoudl be commended for a Peace Prize.

My Vote is in. Simply awesome.
