A study conducted by US marine scientists and published in the journal Marine Ecology Progress Series has concluded that warming oceans are driving many fish stocks further north or deeper in search of cooler water.
The gradual move has been occurring for about four decades and a number of species with commercial value aren't found very much in US waters any more.
"They all seem to be adapting to changing temperatures and finding places where their chances of survival as a population are greater," said Janet Nye, study lead author and researcher NOAA's Northeast Fisheries Science Center.
