Conjoined Twins Successfully Separated in Marathon 27 Hour Surgery

Australia: Surgeons at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne have successfully separated twins Krishna and Trishna who were joined at the head in an operation that lasted a little under 27 hours.

Head of surgery Leo Donnan said the operation had gone as well as could possibly be expected but stressed that the twins' ordeal is far from over with further reconstructive surgery to come.

Moira Kelly, the twins' legal guardian, reacted with joy and relief when she was told the good news. She wants to thank those who have offered support and wants people to "keep the prayers coming".

  I have to say

as much as I like reading about a success like this it annoys me when people say "keep the prayers coming" and not "Thank goodness the surgeons were so skilled. Give them a round of applause. With luck the next lot will be as skilled"

Anyway I hope all goes well with the future surgeries.
