CIA Agents Convicted, Sentenced to Jail Over Extraordinary Renditions

Italy: 22 CIA agents, another American, and two Italian agents have been convicted and sentenced to 3-8 years in jail over the extraordinary rendition of Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr aka Abu Omar. Omar was also awarded $1.5 million in damages.

Abu Omar was kidnapped in Milan and any transported to Egypt via Germany sans a legal process. He was held in the African nation for several years and allegedly tortured before he was eventually released. He was never charged.

All of the US citizens were tried in absentia. The CIA is not commenting on the case but Ian Kelly, a spokesperson for the state department said the administration is disappointed by the ruling. All the Americans are likely to appeal the verdict.

  @CIA

" a spokesperson for the state department said the administration is disappointed by the ruling." Rulling for what? Illegal snatching and deporting, or, the illegal torturing of this man?

<<Evilrat>> Here is another country that thinks it´s beyond law. Namely America.

I don´t consider it true justice until the people at the top GIVING the orders in such cases get tried and convicted for it - in person, not symbolically in absentia.

Justice is just a word in the fictionary until then.

It´s always the lower personell who take the punishment for the corrupt brass - one reason why these show trials have no real teeth.

Like when Nixon got pardoned and became a millionaire over Watergate, while his thugs got jail time.
