Heather Ellis and several members of the community in Kenne, Missouri, are at odds over Ms. Ellis's behavior at a Wal-Mart. The only point of agreement is that she joined a checkout line at the store.
She either cut in line or joined her cousin in a different line. She was either insulted, told to go back to the ghetto and assaulted, or was rude, belligerent, and violent. She could face 15 years in prison for assaulting a police officer.
Nine witnesses (five police officers and four customers) are saying the same thing. There is no report of her cousin or any other customer offering evidence to back her claim of racism or assault.
If it went down the way they say it did then she got what she deserved. This alleged racism crap has got to stop. So many use it for an excuse for poor, low life behavior it is getting sickening. I am sick of hearing it mentioned. No one can do anything without it being racist.
Unfortunately racism (or at least prejudice) is universal. It shouldn´t be used to excuse rude, idiotic, or socially unacceptable actions though. I´m not sure about UK and OZ and other european countries, but America is the only place I´ve lived where people constantly pulling out the race card...the racism exists in the other places, but from what I´ve experienced, people don´t use it as an excuse for misbehavior like people do in America. Asians living in Asia (with the exception of Japanese) are often very racist towards Africans (generally speaking). I was specifically told by both my Chinese employer in China and my Cambodian employer in Cambodia "don´t hire blacks" Once in China one of my friends from the US came to visit (he happens to be black) and when he walked into my work place, one Chinese lady (about 35 years old) looked at him in disdain and said, "What´s the n!gger doing here?" (she was racist, but didn´t realize the N word was unacceptable because she always heard it used on TV, in movies and in "black" music) I came across a number of Chinese that thought the N word was an ok word to use, just because of the amount of black people that use the word in reference to themselves and other black people.
I´m not racist but I am prejudiced towards stupid, selfish, and ethnocentric people.
they do, (and i´ve seen it from a guy who was almost as white skinned as me, because apparently his great grandmother or something was aborigine, the argument funnily enough was over alcohol). Some people just think the world owes them something (but that applies to people of all colour)
I don´t personally know anyone that has enough aboriginal blood in them to be visibly noticeable, that said for every aboriginal you see you see about 2 Africans, 5 Maori, 10 Asians, 15 Indians, 20 Lebanese & 30 Italians(these figures probably wont match published figures but it has been my experience.) Aboriginals tend to be more present in rural community´s, coincidently people living in rural community´s seem to be significantly more racist. The small town my grandfather lives in has no aboriginals this is mostly as a result of the locals having zero tolerance towards them, they won´t call them out or anything but if they act out that´s it, i remember when I was younger my grandfather telling me about the intolerance, in his words: "They are fine if they are going to behave, but if the coons muck up they are out." The loudest voice explaining away the issues facing the aboriginal community are generally not aboriginal people them selves.
I find it difficult to really relate to the aboriginal community and the issues that they face, a large amount of the problems stem from reluctance to integrate, I don´t have issues with them continuing the traditional way of life but they want the best of both worlds, they want everything that comes from modern society with none of the responsibilities. We have been made to feel ashamed of past actions as if we really had a choice, a lot of people that live here are descendent s of convicts, in this way i think what happened to us as a people was worse, we were forced to leave family and homeland for ridicules crimes, the aboriginals were able to keep the attachment they had to the country.
The early Caucasian Australians did some pretty terrible things to the Aboriginals. Culturally they aren´t a 9-5 people, and they seem more susceptible to addictions. Are people racist towards the Maori? Any Kiwi´s out there?
She cuts in line, pushes other people´s stuff out of the way, when they have a problem with that she curses, threatens, resists arrest and assaults officers. EVERYONE ELSE´S testimony backs this up. And then she claims racism. I get really sick of people hiding behind that as a defense.
you say she either cut in line or joined her cousin in a different line. Hello, if she joined her cousin and there were already people standing behind her cousin, that IS cutting in line.
If she did all the things witnesses and police say she did, she needs to got jail. If everyone else did the horrible things she says they did, then they need to be punished. That said, the thing that scares me the most is she is now a school teacher and may pass on her sense of entitlement to children.
So 3 years ago she was a pre-med student when this happened and now she is a teacher who married a trooper. I wonder if he really believes her story. She was caught on the tape moving the merchandise of the lady who was behind her nephew. You can also see how she just walked on in there and started doing what she wanted to.
Claiming racism in a town already filled with tensions is dangerous at best. Having videos and 9 witnesses all saying the same thing? Lady you should have took the deal they offered you. See but doing that would mean that she dropped the complaint against the officer and she wouldn´t be able to sue the department IF the jury finds her innocent.
I watched one of the clips earlier this week and she went struttin over there and made it ´her´ special line. I have seen people do that at stores, take out places and even gas stations. My favorite is when someone leans in while talking on a cell phone and puts a $20 for gas on the counter and then walks out while there are 4 or 5 of us already waiting. Last time someone did that when I was at the counter I said "Wow, thanks! I never had anyone pay for my gas before." There was an exchange but she ended up waiting behind a much longer line and I think each of us took a LONG time completing our transactions.
She is one of the people that thinks it is all about them, that they need to be served first, or be the only one that doesn´t have to follow the rules. I wonder if we should worry about her kids or not?
why doe the blacks use the race card so much, so fast and so easy? i can see where it would be advantageous in some situations, but to flaunt it so much is ridiculous. why don´t other ethnics use the race card? i still don´t know how they became "Afro-Americans" when they are just plain Americans.
why do they? Because that would involve taking responsibility for themselves. Some of them have this sense of entitlement because there is or has been racism in this country. I´m sorry, the fact that your forebears may have picked cotton 150 years ago does not entitle you to step all over people. What if this had been a crowd of black people, and some white chick just waltzed in, shoved all their stuff aside and insisted on being waited on first? Blacks would then call her the most racist b*tch in the world.
Even if they are. Not at least around everybody. It looks bad... and they tend to shy away from the leers. But i think a racist should be proud of their inbred stock. They should flaunt it - like a rainbow parade!
Now, the question is what is a racist: anybody who believes in race and applies it in their judgement and actions.
To add, there seems to be a general consensus that people are tired of victims. Now, i don´t think that disliking victims is racist. I think it´s very high and mighty to dislike victims. Very french monarchy, "let them eat cake!". In fact, it seems people just want victims to shut up. Others play victims, just to be told to shut up. Even others, are just plain victims that need to shut up.
one thing that movie forgot to mention is that Child Rape was acceptable in Aboriginal Culture let alone their lack of understanding when it came to hygene and living settled lives. (those kids taken increased their life expectancy by 10 years plus) We are saying currently saying sorry to a ´stolen generation´ while launching investigations into why there is Ramapant child abuse in aboriginal communities, which has people calling for many of them to be put into foster care. The problems aren´t so simple in Australia, most whites that came here were convicts which basiclly meant slaves, there was never a war against the aboriginals, whites tried to be nice but aborigianls had no concept of ownership which bought then into confilict with Early Farmers. and they commited just as many atrocities against early farmers as the farmers did to them.
and those number shifty mentioned are about right to about 50 whites (at least in western Sydney) its hard to be racist when you have grown up around alot of races but it is also hard to deny that there are charateristics that are more prevelant(but not universal) in some races.
