Cat Caused Illinois Power Outage

A cat that accidentally made contact with a fuse at an Illinois substation has caused electricity to be cut to around 1,500 homes and business in the city of Carrollton, in Illinois's Greene County.

When workers went to investigate the outage, they found the cat lying still several feet away from the fuse. It eventually rose from the ground and walked away. Those affected were customers of Ameren and had power again within hours.

It´s good the cat is still alive (hopefully?). People can live without power for a couple of hours, but contrary to belief cats only have one life. ;)

for that cat catching a shock only, it could have caused a long term outage.

... works in mysterious ways. Rest assured there was a higher purpose to that outage. Praise and cheeseburgers be unto him. Purrrrrr.

The voltage will throw you, the current will kill you. Lucky for the cat it is sent at a higher voltage & low current.
