Adam Lambert Unrepentant Over AMA Performance, Slams Double Standard

Speaking on CBS's "The Early Show", singer Adam Lampert has admitted to getting carried away during his controversial American Music Awards performance, but adds that "I don't see anything wrong with it."

He said that people are only as upset as they are because he is openly gay, and added that Lady Gaga smashed bottles of whiskey on stage, Eminem sung about rape, and "Janet Jackson, crotch grab. I haven't heard one peep about that".

The hosts of the show gave him the chance to apologise, and Lambert declined. He added that his performance was aired at close to 11pm, a time when children should be in bed. "I'm not a baby sitter. I'm a performer".

Not that it matters, but didn´t that air like at 9 PM on the West coast?

  I really don´t see the problem

My girlfriend made me watch it and I didn´t see what the big deal was about it. Admittedly, I think he´s an awful performer, but he really doesn´t deserve the outrage. People are just big homophobes.

it had a delayed airing on the West Coast, and the allegedly offensive parts were removed in the editing room.

  No talent

"Performers" who lack talent usually go for the shock value of catering to prurient interest. Sadly, the mainstream media supports this behavior.

  It´s a re-run with an outfit change anymore

David-You bring up a very good point and one that me and the girls were talking about today. Somehow we got around to how many of the damn things they have and how it is nothing but a joke anymore. Of course we are suckers enough to keep clicking on it so we can see a certain performer or band play.

No we can´t wait for YouTube and we were talking about who has outdone themselves and who didn´t lip synch when they were on. We got around to Pinks performance for the MTV Awards which has to be one of the best live performances I have seen in years. To not have to rely on ´back-up´ because her routine is ´too intense´ just shows that thankfully there are still some musicians that will not compromise her songs, herself and leave her fans with some recording of their voice being magically fixed so they are pretty and wiggly nearly 10 years later.

Her and her ex husband, again boyfriend that isn´t any of our business other than getting to hear some fantastic break up songs.

Adam Lambert shouldn´t have to apologize unless they make every performer apologise. Hell Lady GaGa had her outfit just right and when the lights were shined behind her we got nipple shots, J-Lo wearing an outfit that wasn´t worn too long before it and a half-assed performance. I missed Eminem which I had wanted to see. None of them would even be asked to apologize. He is also correct by saying he isn´t a babysitter and if parents got upset then don´t let the child watch the show.

  I coulnt care less

about adam, i have suffered through the noise of his performance on American idol ect because tv is in living room, and ladies of the house like the show... But the crap he did on tv was planned and it was a ratings grab for the network. IT WORKED!

  @David

I agree, but, Lambert is not one of them. The kid can freaking sing. I would rather hear him, than see him.
