Increase in Sex Change Operations Reason for New Restrictions

Bangkok: In the past two years, the number of young men getting castrations has alarmed the Thai medical establishments and has been the reason for the new rules for castration.

Now, applicants for castration must be over 18 years old and must have been dressing in women's clothing for at least a year before the surgery.

Dr. Sampandh of the Thai medical Council said that many men insist they would be happier being a woman, but the new rules would give them time to think about their decision. "Teenagers think carefully. Don't do it because your friend did it," he said.

is crazy, but then they are born male trapped in female bodies, what can you do?

Nature has been making these mistakes a lot the last few decades, now it is all out there.

  One point of view

Lady boys, transvestites, and trans-gender people are not frowned upon in any way in Thailand. It has been part of the culture for a while and one way that it was explained to me (by a monk) is that sometimes when a woman will die and she didn´t live a good enough life to become a man completely and she will still retain most of her femininity even though she is born with the body of a man. So it is the mind of a woman, trapped in the body of a man and she/he must live a good life so she/he can finish the transition to becoming a man completely. I asked the monk if it could go the other way, like if a man didn´t live a very good life and is reborn but doesn´t become a woman completely and he said, yes it goes both ways.

I would just like to clarify that I only kissed a lady boy once while in Thailand and that was by accident, at night, on the beach where it was really dark...and for having once been a man, she/he was really hot!

  Each to their own...

I do not knock anyone for their preferences. I just wish society would accept people for what they are.

Pretty much. While living in Thailand, I noticed that the men in general (even the ones that weren´t trying to be women) acted much more feminine (emotionally) than the men from neighboring countries. Bet you didn´t know that one of the top Thai kick boxers in Thailand was a lady boy.

Simple as that. All this BS about body living as a different gender and after reincarnation, it is still stuck mentally in the previous gender...

Monks also believe, you may be reincarnated as an animal, I just hope none of these freaks come back as T-REX.

@Shao: There goes the truth, once a man always a man. No wonder, the Thais lady boy kicks ass seriously. Because he is a man parading as a woman.

All these freaks who appear on Jerry Springer, they come on stage, waving their hands and rolling their eyes like women, until the other freak, who took the boy friend comes on stage and then, heels come off, weave is yanked off, thats when you see, for some reason, they dont roll their eyes, call each other biatches, and they swing like a man. What a convinience!

I really dont care what they want to become, honestly. If a person feels like becoming a woman, let it be, as long as, it is their choice and understand the whole thing, but to shove it down my throat as, this is natures fault... I am not buying this.

  anyways, about the topic....

i´m surprised that the thai government is just now establishing a system for this. given the elective and irreversible nature of the procedure, you´d think that this would have been addressed much earlier on, ESPECIALLY in thailand.

in europe and north america, you need a referral from a qualified doctor and you need to be passing as the other gender for two years before you can get a referral for surgery.

Studying gender roles in different societies is pretty interesting. Do boys like trucks because they saw a truck when they were little and decided of their own volition that it looked interesting? Or do they like trucks because their mommy and daddy made it the only toy available to them (or one of several other male-oriented toys?)

If the latter is true then it´s also true that the same applies to sexual preference. They were told they were supposed to look and feel a certain way and that´s how we learn what is expected of us, how things are for our particular gender. I think these pre/post ops are a product of their environment and for some reason they are inclined to make a radical change to their anatomy to accommodate their sense of self. Who would want this done to their body, if it weren´t an unstoppable impulse?

No one. It´s not done on a whim. Unless you´re just plain stupid. My empathy extends only so far so in that case, they may not be reproductively fit anyway...

Freud believed that the only unnatural sex was to have no sex at all. Beyond that it´s just a matter of opportunity and preference.

Seriously dude, show me one aorta of evidence, that proves the drivel you are spouting? instead of conjecturing, maybe a scientific evidence would support your vote on this issue. in the meantime read my 2nd post again and hear me out.

This is what I said:
"I really dont care what they want to become, honestly. If a person feels like becoming a woman, let it be, as long as, it is their choice and understand the whole thing, but to shove it down my throat as, this is natures fault... I am not buying this."

Fred Berlin, founder of the Johns Hopkins Sexual Disorders Clinic and a professor of psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, declares: "Some research suggests that some genetic and hormonal abnormalities may play a role [in pedophilia]....We now recognize that it’s not just a moral issue, and that nobody chooses to be sexually attracted to young people."

Riiightttt!! Would you accept this argument as well, or, simply bury your head in the sand and make it go away? As Imentoned b4 and I repeat, I have nothing against how they want to look like, it is their choice, when earing fashion spruced up, it was, wear an earring on the right side, you are gay, left side you are straight, now if you wear, wear them both instaed of just one, and it doesnt matter whats your preference, because seriouly, nobody f**king cares.

unless if you are from a vicinity, where these kinds of things are still frowned upon. Mental anguish can overwhelm any person into doing any changes to themselves, young girls are having breast enlarged, dont tell me, they are compelled to do that because there was something wrong with the set, they got naturally, now do you! If so keep your votes as they are only real to you.

They remind me of siblings or roomates who get tired of their clothes and their health and beauty aids being used up and not replaces. I hope they have a good nail polish caddy so they don´t have to repaint them and can just touch up.

I like the natural hair on the one in the left, the one in the right is obviously a wig!
