The Nexus One, a hand-held phone made by Google, is expected to debut on the market this week, expanding Google's hold on the mobile market. Google already has its Android operating system on various smartphones.
The Nexus One will not be offered to exclusive carriers like the iPhone is, but available to various different ones. It will cost over US$500 for an "unlocked" version, according to leaked company documents.
Google sent invitations to a press gathering which said: "With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago, we've seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning..."
