Ron Paul: CIA Took Over the United States in a ´Coup´

In a speech delivered to a Campaign for Liberty regional conference in Atlanta, Rep. Ron Paul said that the CIA has in effect taken over the United States government and military and asserted that the CIA needs to be "taken out."

"There´s been a coup, have you heard?" Paul said. "The CIA runs everything, they run the military. They´re the ones who are over there lobbing missiles and bombs on countries ... the CIA is every bit as secretive as the Federal Reserve."

Paul added, "they´re in business, in drug businesses, they take out dictators ... We need to take out the CIA." Paul´s claims all stem from long-standing allegations or reports of CIA wrongdoing over the past several decades.

  was just about to submit this...

This is some of the most awsome news that I have heard in a long time.

Everything that Ron Paul is saying is true, but the problem is that the vast majority of people do not care to do any research on the rich criminal history of the CIA, and of course the MSM will never report on it...

Ron Paul has an unbelievable amount of courage to politically threaten the CIA.

This is as important as Ron Paul creating the opposition that is now occurring against the Federal Reserve, and I cannot wait until the CIA has to start facing the same thing.

  Please don´t...

I hope that Ron Paul doesn´t go down the conspiracy theory road. A lot of people see him as a viable candidate and if he turns kooky, that will evaporate.

I understand what you´re saying, but I read what Paul said as really trying to emphasize his point. The CIA may not have literally conquered the U.S. government and military, but it holds so much concentrated power that it is now able to carry out horrific abuses (and in the past has operated in direct defiance of the government´s will) with near impunity.

When the new CIA director learns about top-secret programs months after taking his position, you know the balance of power there is seriously screwed up. We need serious reform of the CIA, but God knows how we´ll do it.

Well, don´t be surprised if Ron Paul disappears off the face of the Earth soon. ;)
As for him getting more ´kooky,´ it seems conservative voters like ´kooky.´

  Gov Jesse Ventura

Said that when he was elected as Gov That he was taken to an undisclosed room in washington where he was ´questioned´ what he underdstood were CIA. A room with almost every denomination, young, old, nationality, he grew upset and asked them who they were, and If they are CIA they arn´t supposed to operate within US boarders, they ignored him and kept asking questions, until he was ´Debriefed´ and led back to another area. No if that doesn´t say it all. "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety"- Benjamin Franklin

  @cranky paranoid & lurker

its more like conspiracy fact...

do you know how the CIA gets most of is funding? the drug trade, specifically cocaine (columbia and other parts of south america) and opium (namely afghanistan)... its no great secret, unless the only thing you ever hear is mainstream news.

plus the CIA doesn have a tendancy to be at the center of many conspiracies... not the least of which was 9/11 or JFK.

@lurker

much like alex jones or jesse ventura, he´s too high profile to be target in most cases... if he became president as JFK did (of if jesse ventura did) they´d have legitiment reason to have fear of disappearing or a fatal accident happening to them, or even assassinated in public; though the fallout from the JFK assassination be a major deterent to this method being used again...otherwise unless they hit on something absolutely definatively that would pose a threat to the existance or influnce and power they wouldn´t be easy targets just for being public figures and lacking and serious influence that is a threat to them.

The last time a president tried to dethrone the CIA he got a bullet in his brain. Then when that same presidents brother was on his way to becoming president as well he got a bullet in him as well. Im not implying a connection but...

& knowledge is withheld for the "safety of the public" (@_@) the ones keeping the secrets hold the power.

Blowback comes to mind too. & they hold a lot of responsibility for what is happening to the US.

Until a time where the American people concede (over 50%) that indeed our government is not being run by the people anymore.. we´ll be stuck in this.. not sure what to call it.

  by: rad     01/21/2010 07:55 PM
  Wouldn´t be surprised...

If the CIA, facing a budget cut, let a few terrorists through the gate on 9/11 to "help" the american people realize that we need them.

CIA = KGB

Ok just throwing this out there: but how can you honestly believe you KNOW what the CIA is doing? Seriously, they could be owning the flower market for all you know!

Though I agree, they probably, just trying to make a point: don´t assume you know everything there is because you read some internet site or watch some video.

A lot of what the CIA has done has come to light, and a lot of it has been covered by the media. It´s pretty common knowledge that the CIA is waging war in Pakistan right now, and our government officials won´t even comment on it. They haven´t said a single word.

  by: Ben_Reilly     01/22/2010 02:34 AM
  Don´t worry guys

There´s plenty more conspiracies to be proven right.

  Ben, all

Ben are you ok there? I almost feel nervous like 2012 is going to hit us at any moment with you giving any credibility to what the CIA is doing.

I know that a lot of people were cracking jokes and comments about Jesse Ventura´s show came out, the oldest was asking to watch an episode that was a rerun over break so she would be able to talk to a friend about it. We watched 2 and I must say the shows weren´t as screwy as I had thought and even if some of it was a little over the top I have to say some of it that was easily proven was just a tad freaky. I don´t think he is all the way off the deep-end and he did describe the CIA meeting shortly after he won the election. He was most disturbed not by the fact that the CIA was doing official business inside the US, he was very upset about the kind of people that had somehow gotten into the building and able to set this up all the while bringing no attention to themselves. The reason? They each looked like another part of the community and there were no suits or white guys or women that would have the ´look´ and they were all ages, races, class. It was interesting to watch.

Why are you surprised; did I write a ringing endorsement of the CIA in my sleep and not realize it, or something?

Praising the CIA is for Republicans, at least when Pelosi accuses the CIA of lying ...

  by: Ben_Reilly     01/22/2010 05:38 AM
  Yes

The CIA is rotten to the core and was founded on tenets of Nazism. It has initiated several coups against democratically elected leaders in other countries, and funded/fought in covert wars under the eyes of the public. They are just like the Pakistani ISI, the so-called "State Within a State."

  Re to Nimira

Congressman and physician Ron Paul is a lil more credible than "some website or video".

In my opinion he´s the most honest, upfront and principled man in Congess, perhaps in Washington.

That´s not to say he´s infallible - but he knows that as well as I do, so rather than putting faith in a party, he relies on the principles of liberty, as do I.

Relax Ben I was just poking fun at you because usually CIA and you writing in the same thread is often at others expense when you call the sonspiracy theorists and take nothing they say serious.

  my 2 cents

Ron Paul seems like a pretty straight forward politician (at least more than others). I would have voted for him if there was a chance of him winning. REAL conservatives would be good for the country right now...

  I don´t get why the words conspiracy theory

are used to demean a person´s stance.

It´s used like a mantra. Conspiracy theory - oooh... must be a nutjob. Cause we all normal people know that conspiracies don´t exist.

My friends, if anything history can prove is this. All things done in politics require conspiracies. So conspiracies are the way things get done in government. Everything else they do is just for show.

I think anybody who can blow off all conspiracy theories without ever looking into the nature of man and his governments needs to move into tv land a hug barney. Yes, there are nutjobs, but there are also cowards - who are too afraid to look at why things are being done in their name.

Originally the meaning of it was seen as a real definition of the phrase but it has been watered down or even perverted into a whole new meaning that tries to paint the declarers of it as crazy people. There are also many other words that have been tainted such... ´liberal´, ´hippie´, etc. Sad but true but propaganda works pretty well...
