Well-known Spanish artist Eugenio Merino´s installation of his art at the International Art Fair in Spain is described as offensive. His display of a haredi figure standing on the shoulders of a priest, who is kneeling on a Muslim prostrated in prayer.
Rafi Schutz, the Israeli Ambassador to Spain, released a statement requesting the removal of the works from the fair: "In the body of this Spanish artist’s work there are elements offensive to Jews, Israelis and undoubtedly others as well."
The artist also made a statement regarding two of the five works he has on display. "The aim was to display the wonder in the co-existence of the three religions, each making a common effort to reach God," he told reporters. The art still remains.
