The Japanese Davis Cup team have won their rubber against the Philippines 5-0 dealing a blow in the Asia-Oceania first round of the tie on Sunday. The team will now play Australia in May in an effort to score a sport in the World Group.
The Philippines team had looked strong and challenging on the first day of the Group One first round, with Treat Conrad Huey not going down quietly to Tatsuma Ito, Japan“s top player. He needed over three hours, and five sets, to beat Huey.
But it was all down hill from there for the Philippines team and they are now out of the running for the Davis Cup this year.
