On Friday Hillary Clinton sternly spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The conversation lasted for 43 minutes. It follows the news of Israel’s decision to build yet even more Jewish homes in east Jerusalem.
America’s frustrated vice president said this was “a deeply negative signal" for the Middle East peace plans. The move sheds a dim light on America after years of strong support given by the US with backing and protecting Israeli interests.
Clinton said of Israel’s new move that “the announcement of the settlements on the very day that the vice president was there was insulting.” The European Union, United Nations and Russia all condemn Israel’s move.
