Day After Historical Health Care Reform, GOP Changes Site to "Fire Pelosi"

Just hours after the historical vote on health care reform, the GOP has officially changed its attack position and put a large "Fire Pelosi" across their site in a bid to ignite support for their "40 Seats Means No More Madam Speaker" campaign.

Considering Nancy Pelosi to be one of the largest roles in health care reform, GOP members have focused their new attacks by directing users from their regular website to firenancypelosi.com which shows the House speaker in front of a wall of flames.

The new campaign, an attempt to raise $402,010 in 40 hours, focuses on taking an additional 40 seats needed to remove Pelosi from her position. They´re also asking their members to "Tweet firebomb" to help grow support for the movement.

  Pelosi??

What about Obama and his cronies? Surely they had something to do with it.

What Pelosi did is treason. Treason in the United States is punishable by death. While I hate both political parties with a passion, it is not unreasonable to run an emotionally charged advertizing campaign to remove someone from power that has obviously no regard for the people she is supposed to represent.

I live in Pelosi´s district, and I have been trying to get her kicked out of office for years.

I wonder how effective term limits would be

in combating the problems in Washington???

That and making all forms of corporate lobbying illegal. Heaven forbid that politicians have to get funds from regular people!

How did she disregard her district?

I hope you´ve got something to say other than the healthcare reform, because the public is definitely in support of the reform, if perhaps quibbling over details or labels such as "ObamaCare"

"has obviously no regard for the people she is supposed to represent."

That describes the entire Republican Party. The party of ´nothing´, ´no´ and ´incompetence.´
Mitch McConnell keeps saying the ´American people´ don´t want this. This right-wing nutter does not speak for me. He can only speak for the ignorant people in his district. He can´t speak for all Americans. He does not have the right. That goes for all politicians.

  Republican behaviour

is outlined here in this story and how it may actually backfire against them.
I guess they are losers in more way than one.

  As a Democrat,

I know I should take heart in watching the death spiral of the Republican Party. But I actually find it sickening. It´s not good for America to not have a healthy, vibrant opposition to the majority party, and the GOP can no longer serve as such.

If you have a few bad apples, that´s one thing. If most of the bushel is bad, that´s something else. JEA´s post puts it into good perspective -- Congressmen yelling "baby killer," Boehner asking his fellow Republicans to "act like grown-ups" before his "hell-no" speech.

Rep. Eric Cantor, the GOP minority whip, wanted to start a Republican listening tour last year, fresh after the 2008 losses. He wanted Republicans to tour the country listening to what people had to say about how the GOP could improve.

That was derailed by Rush Limbaugh, who shamefully said that Republicans shouldn´t be listening to Americans, they should be lecturing Americans. And shame on Cantor for even listening to that offensive blow-hard who isn´t even liked by the majority of Republicans.

There have to be *some* Republicans out there who realize that the way to be successful is not to go more radical and more nasty with each passing day.

She took an oath to uphold the constitution. The federal government does not have the right to force anyone to buy anything under that constitution. In the United States, knowingly violating the constitution while holding an elected position is the definition of treason. And I know she knows what the constitution says, because I was at an event where she spoke at a few months ago, a guy that brought it to her attention was ignored and removed from her little photo op by security.

"The federal government does not have the right to force anyone to buy anything under that constitution."

with that retarded logic i suppose all taxes are against the constitution then seeing as they "force" you to pay for roads and garbage collection and stuff with taxes. don´t be a retard and catch up to the rest of the developed world.

why is it so hard for americans to make PROGRESS in anything? they move slow at everything unless it´s about starting a war, then they are on top of it and s*** moves through the system at light speed.

heaven forbid if anyone ever tries to do anything FOR the people.

Why doesn´t the rest of the world realize that its not peter´s responsibility to pay paul´s expenses.

If you actually read our constitution, you will indeed see that the government does not have the authority to do this. and originally the federal government did not have the authority to Tax U.S. citizens. In fact, some will argue that they still do not, as the states never ratified the amendment in which the U.S. tax system is based. Your country can have its socialism all it wants, but in this country there will come to a point where goverment grabbing will be answered with civilian firearms. Thats how the U.S. was founded afterall.

I personally think it´s interesting how the Federal Reserve and Income Tax amendment came to be during the same year. Talk about a messed up situation.

i won´t argue with you any further as it is apparent that you like your other con friends are taking the constitution out of context and twisting it to your view. just hope the feds don´´t read your post and start monitoring for being a possible threat for that lil bit about taking up arms against the government.

Obamacare will further damage the doctor-patient relationship, and if it were a good program, it wouldn’t have to be imposed by force. It will bankrupt the country even faster then it is going down now.
It is Not just Pelosi, but most of them who act like abusive parents who tell their children “it”s for your own good and you will thank us someday”.
Pelosi, The president and other leaders have shown total disregard for those they serve. Whether you want to face it or not, it is degrading and demoralizing. Regardless of party affiliation the people need to unite
People need to realize that BOTH parties have expanded govt like there is no tomorrow. People on the left AND right HAVE to come together and realize this for any real change. I cannot believe anyone is happy with either party and the way it´s going.
The right wing needs to realize we did not get ’socialism’ with the election of Obama. We have ’socialist’ or ‘corporatist.
We live in a corptocracy…………a govt bought up by corporations.
The Fed, IRS and all our Representatives need to go. Its time to start over before every one of our rights are depleted and we are left being nothing more then a bunch of pathetic dependent robots.

Not a Great Day for the Republicans

Not only did they oppose what will be seen as consumer protection, but they lied to protect corporate interests. Not to mention using outlandish hyperbole in order to manipulate fears.

I´m sure they will have trouble explaining this in the future.

"Obamacare will further damage the doctor-patient relationship, and if it were a good program, it wouldn’t have to be imposed by force."

first, explain HOW, just how the hell can more patients being given to a doctor ruin the relationship? if anything it creates the need for more doctors. unless you´re an idiot, thats a good thing for your country to have more doctors (most other countries BRAG about the amount of doctors and engineers they have incase you didn´t know).

it is being imposed by force because dumbasses like tet and you don´t see progress for the way it is but just at face value.

tell me what your problem is if more people get access to health care and your country gets more doctors and nurses? also keep in mind this raises the standard of education, you think that´s bad too?

"It will bankrupt the country even faster then it is going down now."

stop the war in iraq/afghanistan for a week and your health care will be paid off for a year. oh but wait, you would rather kill other people than help your own.

"It is Not just Pelosi, but most of them who act like abusive parents who tell their children “it”s for your own good and you will thank us someday”."

You will thank them when your country is broke and you have no money left in your savings being 80 and no insurance company will take you. think beyond today for a change.

"Pelosi, The president and other leaders have shown total disregard for those they serve."

blah blah blah, no politician is honest, atleast these leaders have done what others tried to do since 1965.

the rest is just the standard rant from every american so i won´t bother.

Quote:first, explain HOW, just how the hell can more patients being given to a doctor ruin the relationship?

Well the way I see it, if you think it is bad now having an insurance company dictate what choices the doctor suggests is covered or not, wait till you see what happens when they cut the cost of insurance. NOTHING IS FREE! But I guess you haven´t lived in the world long enough to realize you only get what you pay for. The only way to cut cost is to cut service. That would be called ration. Nothing will be left up to the doctor nor the patient to decide.
I listened to Obama when he spoke. There needs to be rules. What the hell do you think he meant?

Quote:(most other countries BRAG about the amount of doctors and engineers they have incase you didn´t know).

REALLY??
Well in case you didn´t know. People with enough money come to this country for treatment. Wonder why they would do that?? I guess it would be safe to assume, when your looking for quality over quantity it doesn´t matter how many doctors you have, does it? You get what you pay for.

Quote:You will thank them when your country is broke and you have no money left in your savings being 80 and no insurance company will take you. think beyond today for a change.

I don´t thank anyone nor do I want anything from anyone who does not abide by our constitution and takes it upon themselves to decide what is good for me. Oh just to touch on this, If my country is broke and I don´t have any money who is going to pay for my insurance?
So exactly what will I be thanking them for, robbing some more money from the working people? They already do that to us now,so I don´t see the change your talking about.

Quote:blah blah blah, no politician is honest, atleast these leaders have done what others tried to do since 1965.

Wow since 1965 and we made it till now. Almost feels we didn´t need any change at all.
Bottom line after reading your last quote above, I come to realize your train of thought is part of the problem not the solution. But think as you like.

Would this "we" you speak of include the 45 million Americans who don´t have health insurance (even though most of them are employed)? Or by "we" do you mean the 45,000 or so people who have been dying the past few years because they can´t get health insurance?

I suppose that "we" includes my brother, who can´t get hernia surgery because he´s been declined for health insurance due to the hernia. Yeah, you know, over-the-counter pain killers can mask a lot of pain, right?

  by: Ben_Reilly     03/23/2010 11:19 PM

Well you never answered my question as to how does it harm doctor-patient relationship so I guess we will have to assume you have no legitimate reason to that claim at all.

"wait till you see what happens when they cut the cost of insurance."

Did you read the bill by the way? There is very little about cutting cost and more about extending coverage. This has more to do with older people not getting insurance, injured people not getting insurance and kids not getting insurance (current cap is 19 under parents, it is being changed to 26). Did you even bother listening to what the guy was saying? Obviously not since you are attacking 2 paragraphs of a multi-page bill. I am well aware that nothing is free but I don´t think you are aware of SUBSIDY. You know the same thing that isn´t there for your children´s university education? The one that makes it ever-increasingly difficult for students to graduate? Yeah, don´t you think it would be progressive to make atleast 1 MAJOR part of your life subsidised (sometimes completely) so you can live up to a standard.

"The only way to cut cost is to cut service."

Yes, absolutely, you have that dead on. But of course you don´t listen or read so let me remind you. The cost cutting isn´t coming from the same sector so it doesn´t effect what you are trying to point out. If you listened or read atleast once out of the thousand times you would know that they want to cut costs from the defense sector not the health.

"Nothing will be left up to the doctor nor the patient to decide."

Visit Canada, UK, Germany, France or any other developed country before you say such bulls***.

"I listened to Obama when he spoke. There needs to be rules. What the hell do you think he meant?"

No Sir, You didn´t. Not at all. Also, how do you know what he meant? You´re a psychic? You think you are better at predicting what he said than numerous corporations and think tanks?

"People with enough money come to this country for treatment."

Sorry to burst your bubble but people choose european countries well before they consider yours. The people in your own country go to china and other places to get treatment that backward thinking people like you have blocked from taking place on your own soil.

"when your looking for quality over quantity it doesn´t matter how many doctors you have, does it?"

Yeah it does, sorry to burst your bubble again. 1 good doctor can only take so many patients, do you know the labour laws in your country? Sounds like you didn´t read that as well. Not to mention your obviously flawed logic. In health care, quality comes from quantity because quality standard is set by EDUCATION not by insurance premiums.

"You get what you pay for."

Yeah you do, you get a higher mortality rate than Cuba, Italy, Taiwan, Greece, Ireland, Canada, New zealand, UK, Portugal, Australia, Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Spain, Germany, Norway, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Sweden and Singapore just to name a few. You are getting what you pay for it looks like doesn´t it? Behind EVERY developed country there is.

"Wow since 1965 and we made it till now. Almost feels we didn´t need any change at all."

Being on a constant decline in almost everything isn´t a good enough wake up call for you? How does that mentality even get you sleep? Everyone has "made it", have you ever heard of improvement?

Your ignorance and arrogance is resonated all throughout the populace much too often and it is directly related to the reason why the country is systematically deprived of any real value growth. This is the same reason why your system and society fail you now and will continue you to fail you until you cease to exist.

Hey look at the bright side. It passed so when is he scheduled to get the much needed operation?
