60-Year-Old Australian Man Fights for His Life Against a Wombat

After losing his home to bush fires, a 60-year-old man had to reside in a caravan while his home was being repaired. As he stepped out of the door of his mobile home, he accidentally trod on a wombat.

The creature curiously reacted and repeatedly made an enraged attack and managed to drag the guy down to the floor, wounding his arms and legs. The struggle lasted for approximately twenty minutes.

By some luck, the 60-year-old managed to grab hold of a hatchet and kill the wombat. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and received treatment for arm and leg bites.

Forgot to add the quote! :(

A government spokesman said it was highly unusual for a wombat, a solid but slow-moving marsupial, to attack a human but admitted they could rush towards someone if threatened.

He said: "Wombats that are in an advanced stage of mange (disease) will become very agitated from the suffering and the irritation of the mange.

"But it´s not known that they will push the attack to where they would physically attack someone."

Can admin amend my summary please? To "almost lost his home". :)

  ahahah

according to wikipedia: "Humans who accidentally find themselves in an affray with a wombat may find it best to scale a tree until the animal calms and leaves."

Also they apparently have no fear and can become moody.

I actually prefer OP Bundy with Coke.

It´s funny you said that but, because i have only ever met 2 other people that drink rum here in Australia other then me. That´s not to say that other people don´t drink it, definitely people from my generation don´t drink it nearly as much as older generations.

I originally started drinking Bundy because when i went to party´s people would pinch my drinks, with Bundy or OP Bundy i never had that problem. With OP Bundy no matter what i did the next day at work i would smell very strongly of alcohol.

  I tried here...

via a guy very much like your bad self.

His wife and he drank it with the Bundy ginger, it is delicious never mind the rum.

The sad thing is I cannot get the bundy ginger here. But as for the Bundy rum that is now in our local witherspoons food and drink bar.

My parents use to make alcoholic and non-alcoholic ginger beer, i always found bundy ginger a bit strong.

http://www.sanza.co.uk/...

Also for a price comparison here in Australia prices converted to UK currency it would Cost £8.76 for a 12 pack, so when you take into account the fact that it probably isn´t a high seller and shipping the price of £12.99 is semi-reasonable.

It´s called a dark and stormy i think.

I´m actually from bundaberg, but I don´t often drink bundy rum. (Except when back in Qld to see the family)

I do like bundy ginger beer though. Mixed with jager it is fantastic. (My recipe... help me name it)

  by: jendres     04/08/2010 04:19 AM
  What is

jager? What is that the nearest I came up with was a bitter German ligeur. :)

yep, that´s the stuff. Mixed with the bundaberg ginger beer it tastes fantastic.

Oh, and instead of getting the ginger beer imported. Try the cordial instead. http://www.bundaberg.com/...
Tastes a lot like the fizzy drink, and is also a great mixer with spirits (I like it with Canadian club).
