12-Year-Old Girl Dies After Intercourse
 

A 12-year-old Yemeni girl bled for three days after intercourse and then died from the internal bleeding. She was married to an older man.

The death of this little girl is the latest in a series of cases in Yemen because of underage marriages. The little girl was identified as Elham Mahdi.

"Elham Mahdi was married on March 29th and died three days later," said Amal Basha, the chairwoman of the Sisters Arab Forum for Human Rights.

She refused to do what her husband has the right to get.

Of course this is not how I see that but it is how he and many other people is their society believe in.

This is really sad. I read the story and the sources. But what truly ruined my day was the comment of the mother. She obviously did nothing to save her daughter. Just grab your bleeding, suffering, begging kid and bring it to a hospital. She asked the husband to stop it. Then left the place. A girl is not that important in Yemen.

Some cultures believe in the right to free speech and freedom of the press. Some cultures belive in the right to pork your wife. It´s a real shame that the litle girl had to die just so some butthole could prove that he was man enough.

Bakr = Youngish Virgin.

For example, the First Khalif, Abu Bakr "Father of the Virgin", gained his moniker after he married his infant daughter to his 50yrs old blood brother Mohammed.

Apparently the age difference, between mohammed and his bride-niece, was so wide relative to the customs of the day, that the man had his name changed to "Father of the Bakr".

Today, for a secular law, to ban the marriage of young girls to very old men, would tarnish the reputation of the First companions of Mohammed who all had big harems, filled with all kinds of young girls and women.

Maybe he´s thinking of a different dead girl who was married off without her consent raped to death in Yemen by her husband. I hear there´s a lot of that kind of thing going around. Perhaps some Tamiflu or a nice warm compress will clear it up.

Yemeni child brides made headlines in 2008 when 10-year-old Nujood Ali was pulled out of school and married. Her husband beat and raped her within weeks of the ceremony.

To escape, Nujood hailed a taxi -- the first time in her life -- to get to the central courthouse where she sat on a bench and demanded to see a judge.

After a well-publicized trial, she was granted a divorce.
