Friday Iran Announced They Have Nuclear Technology

Friday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran announced that Iran has advanced its nuclear technology, during his speech celebrating National Nuclear Day.

During his speech chants of "Death to America" and "God is Great" could be heard coming from the crowd.

"Iranian scientists have fully mastered nuclear technology, taking giant steps, moving at full pace," said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran.

ASSESS this news: BLOCK this news. Reason:
The only reason that insane Islamic fundamentalists ever run Iran, is because Britain and the United States fomented a coup against Mosaddegh in the 50´s, and installed the Shah (who was a brutal dictator), who was then overthrown in the Islamic revolution.

Is it really any wonder that many Iranians hate the United States?

Anyway, I don´t blame Iran for wanting to have nuclear power, or even nuclear weapons for that matter, but if it really is such a security issue (for Israel), then let Israel go bomb the reactors, like they did to Saddam in the 80´s.
  by: circuit_monkey   04/11/2010 03:01 AM
I suspect they will. Under excellently staged strenuous objections U.S..
  by: VermiciousG     04/11/2010 03:14 AM
Can I get an Amen?
  by: VermiciousG     04/11/2010 03:15 AM
One of the major differences between Israel bombing the Iraqi reactors in the 80´s and a proposed strike on Iran would be the Iraqi reactors had no radioactive fuel rods, as where the Iranians will more than likely have at least one reactor with fuel rods in place. A bomb will eject radioactive materials into the atmosphere, possibly irradiating millions of square miles and millions of people. And the sheer hypocrisy of Israel is frightening considering their large stockpile of nuclear arms.

Oops, I guess that I didn´t think of that...

Well, I don´t think that Israel should be too paranoid anyway.

Who is going to attack a country with over 300 thermonuclear weapons?

Not even the Iranian Mullahs are that crazy.
  by: circuit_monkey   04/11/2010 03:57 AM
Doesn´t bother me. Iran doesn´t have nearly as violent of a past as most countries with nuclear technology. They´ve kept to themselves for over 200 years and I´m sure they will continue to do so.

  hate to say it
but bush was right in this one instance
by: Devil Duck     04/11/2010 05:34 AM
  Mission Accomplished?
How was Bush right? He did everything to convince them they need nuclear weapons to protect themselves from us.
  by: Jim8   04/11/2010 06:10 AM
  Doesn´t matter
Same thing as North Korea. Let them have their weapons. None of their missiles can reach the US. If another country has a problem with them being able to hit them let them deal with it.
  by: importfanaticr34   04/11/2010 06:42 AM
I just thought I´d point this out, when they say "death to" something, it really means "down with" something, they don´t literally mean death.
I guess that makes them insane, and americans who want to turn the middle east into a "glass crater" are the sane ones.

There´s never two sides to a story.
  by: silentrage   04/11/2010 10:38 AM
Similar logic didn´t work well before WWII either.

If I were in Israel they would already be having a bad day.

Quote:Who is going to attack a country with over 300 thermonuclear weapons?

Good point, maybe that is why many in this country are not to happy about Obama´s plan to dismantle a lot of ours.

  by: hellblazer     04/11/2010 05:53 PM
That´s because Japan made it our business. I´m not saying that Iran cannot develop missiles to reach us, but they haven´t yet.
  by: importfanaticr34   04/11/2010 06:59 PM
Pretty sure the main reason for Iran´s Nuclear advancement is for protection against Israel, not the US.

  On Saturday Israel
Set their launch codes.
  by: ichi     04/12/2010 12:43 AM
not even a nuclear weapons program has been proven.. the weapons won´t magically turn up and the inspection people have been there for years. I´m not in the least concerned about this.

As for Obama´s plan to cut them by one third... so what USA would still have enough to blow this planet into pieces a couple of times least.
  by: Kaleid   04/12/2010 03:34 AM
Does anyone actually believe that the Iranians have no sense of self-preservation? Anyone who has a basic knowledge of the Cold War knows that a nuclear strike would have resulted in Mutually Assured Destruction for the world in the resulting battle. Iranians have no intention of seeing their culture and people wiped off the map. I have serious doubts the religious leadership are willing to sacrifice their own lives and the destruction of their country just to go after Israel.
by: Illustro Malum   04/12/2010 06:04 AM
  It is going to happen
Too many nuclear weapons means somebody or some nation will use them either on purpose or through a mistake or error. It is best that we get rid of them. Sooner or later something is going to happen and that might set off the entire world.

Remember, if something can happen, eventually it will.

I am worried about a crazy dictator pushing the button because he is up against the wall and is unpredictable.

  by: Kaleid   04/12/2010 06:20 PM
Excuse me if I´m wrong and I could well be but isn´t Ahmadinejad´s power pretty limited? I was under the impression that he is more or less a figurehead and that the real power is held by religious leaders.
  by: VermiciousG     04/12/2010 06:42 PM
  @ ichi
"On Saturday Israel set their launch codes."

Is that true? I don´t doubt it, I just can´t find it in the news, but then I didn´t look all that hard.
  by: tuogh     04/12/2010 06:53 PM
"Ahmadinejad´s power pretty limited"
Yes it is. Unfortunately the media doesn´t often point this out. To me it seems that the media is part of almost all war efforts...meaning they participate in selling them.
  by: Kaleid   04/12/2010 07:29 PM
I´d say that that is true. Nothing increases viewership like a good old-fashioned war.
  by: VermiciousG     04/12/2010 07:53 PM
  Too Late???
"Stop or I´ll Stop again," says Obama to Ahmadinejad.

If we go to war against Iran and find no WMD´s, will the Left hate Obama, as they do Bush?
  by: Mr.Science   04/12/2010 09:55 PM
Here´s why I don´t think there will be war
1. The military is overstreched
2. (perhaps more importantly) Neither China nor Russia approves, and Russia has stated many times that an attack on Iran would be seen as an attack on Russia. Bush supposedlt didn´t allow Israel to bomb Iran..
3. The economy is still in bad shape, and an attack on an oil-wealthy country would shake things up if number 2 already wouldn´t by itself
4. Iran is not as crippled as Iraq was after years of bombings and sanctions. It´s also much larger in size and population and would be more difficult to control.

Personally I´m not really a fan of either parties, democrats or republicans when it comes to their foreign policy.

But most Americans are not anti-war and can be easily fooled into supporting them. Just scare them!
The right was pretty much pacifistic during Clinton and the left was against Bush´s war in Iraq.
Seems to me they´re against each others policies and not against war. Neither seems to want to pay for them either.
  by: Kaleid   04/12/2010 10:13 PM
  @ Mr. Science
Bush is so yesterday maaan, does no good living in the past.
  by: tuogh     04/12/2010 11:16 PM
It was just vocalizing where my train of logic has taken me. The only logical end of this is Israel going to the next stage in self preservation. Either reducing Iran´s capacity to stage nuclear war or going to the next step of preparing for the total eradication of Iran.

Remember the movie "Wargames"

"The only winning move is not to play".
  by: ichi     04/12/2010 11:45 PM
  It would help..
if someone, anyone could produce some sort of evidence that there is a nuclear weapons program.

Some more reasons why I´m not so bothered.
1. The country is heavily inspected
2. Nuclear weapons are not easy to make and cannot magically appear from nowhere
3. We´ve heard about this threat over and over and over again but doesn´t seem to materialize
4. They are signatories of the NPT
5. They even have a fatwa against nuclear weapons, calling them unislamic

I furthermore almost wish that the Shah would have been in place a bit longer and USA would have provided the nuclear energy to them in the first place. Ford tried and the reason was peak oil..which didn´t happen either. It would have been so much more difficult to try to scare people now into supporting another possible which doesn´t need to happen and shouldn´t happen.

Ahmadinejad Iranian Version of Bush.

I don´t know this religious superiority bullcrap is getting out of hand. I´m tired of the delusional morons effing up my time on earth because they want to see the tooth fairy.

Suggest you read the comments before posting. Only a very few of people are reacting as you are suggesting.
  by: VermiciousG     04/13/2010 02:19 PM
I could make a nuclear bomb if I had the materials using nothing more then wikipedia and an old physics book. Its the refinement that makes it hard to get the materials, the bomb itself is easy to create. Once you have nuclear reactors, you will be making high grade fuel, which is just a step away from having weapons grade uranium.
by: Tetsuru Uzuki     04/14/2010 12:16 AM
Hell, I could build one just from watching these two movies

And they´re not even documentaries!
  by: VermiciousG     04/14/2010 12:22 AM
  Sorry, but that´s pure fiction
North Korea started their quest for nuclear weapons during the Reagan it took them quite a long time.

Read more here:

“It´s a very challenging goal,” Leonard Spector, deputy director of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, said today in a telephone interview.

Needless to say, Iran has not developed weapons grade uranium even, which is not easy either. Yet I´ve read since at least 2005 that anyday now they´ll have the bomb.
  by: Kaleid   04/14/2010 12:24 AM
I´m not saying that the enrichment of fissionable materials isn´t a chore. I´m sure it is but do you really think that in the computer age that a country like Iran doesn´t have the degree of technical savvy that the U.S. had in 1945?
  by: VermiciousG     04/14/2010 12:43 AM
It takes longer to not get caught making nuclear weapons, then it does to actually make them, and again what was holding back north korea was refinement, not the bomb itself. Not to mention that north korea has been rumored to have the capability for well over a decade to produce a bomb.

Like I said, if I had access to weapons grade uranium, and a million bucks, I have the know how to make it go BOOM. Many people do. Its the refining aspect of it that is difficult. Now my bomb wouldn´t be an ICBM that I could launch at another country, but I could walk into a city, rig it with a timer, and walk out. (Yes you can fit them in a backpack, at least a low yield one).

All that being said, I think its more likely globalists will give material to some puppet terrorist group to stage an event rather then Iran launching a nuclear attack on another nation, but thats not what is being discussed.

It appears that we are of one mind on this.
