The issue of whether the United States government under President George W. Bush had any involvement in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 has become a divisive issue in the race for Chair of the Libertarian Party National Committee.
Candidates Ernest Hancock and Wayne Root used the notion against each other in a debate in Kansas. Hancock said he´s afraid of Root becoming "the face of the LP" and said he, Hancock, would investigate the 9/11 attacks from a "truther" perspective.
Root responded that he´d make a better "face of the LP" given Hancock´s truther agenda: "[I´m not] going to make us the party that believes in 9/11 Truth," Root said. "Are we out of our minds? Is that what you want the LP to be about?"
