Officials Attempt to Congratulate Man on His 111th Birthday, Find Skeleton in His Apartment - He Died 30 Years Ago.

Japan: Police have discovered the skeletal remains of Sogen Kato after city officials wanting to congratulate him on turning 111 became suspicious after being turned away by the man´s family. It is believed he died 3 decades ago.

The man´s family told officials that Kato had become a "living Buddha" and did not want to be disturbed. After learning that the man´s pension fund hadn´t had any luck in contacting him for quite some time officials referred the matter to police.

An investigation into possible fraud is now in progress. Kato´s wife died several years back and some of the Y9.5 million he has received in pension payments since then is no longer in his bank account.

The Down Side to Automatic Payments

The place next to mine has been taken care of inside and out twice a week for a year after the owner died on a European vacation.

No one noticed and the bills were always paid. I finally told the window washer he didn´t have to do such a good job, no one would notice.

To this day the house sits with no one apparently paying any attention to the fact that the owner won´t be coming home again.
