Priest Accidentally Drowns Baby While Baptising Him

Moldova: A six-week-old infant has died after being accidentally drowned by the priest who was baptising him. The parents pointed out that the infant wasn´t looking good but the priest ignored them and continued with the ceremony.

By the time the priest was finished the child was no longer showing any signs of life. Baby Laurentiu was taken to hospital where doctors attempted unsuccessfully to revive him. Police are now looking into the incident.

"He dipped the baby in the water without even covering the baby´s mouth with his hand to prevent him from drowning," said the infant´s father, Dmitry Gaydeu.

You know what´s worse than a dead baby in the baptismal font?

The Holocaust.

Since this is Moldovaa, the family are peobably orthodox catholics - and they typically use full immersion.

@jhax
He was negligant, call off your dogs.

BS, he was warned the baby didn´t look good and he stared at the ceiling.
If the guy is negligent with a baby then wtf else won´t he be with?

It doesn´t get more delicate than a newborn.

how primitive.

Yes he was warned, thats why he was negligent.

Suggesting that this guy willfilly murdered the kid is what´s BS.

Willfully or not he got the baby killed because he didn´t give a f*ck.

Go represent him pro-bono if you justify his actions so much.

Was the baptism completed? What I am mostly concerned with now is, is the baby going to heaven or hell, limbo or wherever unbaptised babies go?

  baby is going back

into the ether. The realm of energy. That priest is goin´ ta hell tho. Our fathers my ass. He´s got a ticket straight to lava town. First stop, drowning hell. :-D

Don´t be an idiot, i´m not justifying his actions. I´m trying yo explain to you the difference between an accident (notice the title of the summary) and murder. Murder indicates intent which necessitates motive, this was negligence (according to the facts we know) and we do not know whether or not he gave a f*ck, your assumption that he didn´t is uninformed.

I am not a lawyer and even if I was I doubt i´d need to defend the guy (pro-bono only if he had no money, another baseless assumption you´ve made...) because there wouldn´t be a prosecuter dumb enough to try to get a murder prosecution.

  by: jamesmc   08/01/2010 06:07 PM
  @james

Accident means it was no1s fault, not the case here.

The priest was informed that the baby didn´t look good and he chose to ignore that remark, that shows he did not gave a f*ck.

Sure, it may have not bein the priest intent to kill the child but he did not care for his life either.

  If...

the baby was not well why did the parents go ahead with the big day?

  by: captainJane     08/02/2010 01:03 AM
  @jhax

Well I´m bored of this, I stand by what I say - he was negligent.

You can still go to prison for wrongful death by negligence and that´s what he ought to get, from what I can tell.

Go check the jail time of Negligent Homicide vs Manslaughter, then you´ll know why every professional who gets caught killing a client by being an idiot picks the 1st.

Granted the crime was not done in the US but the laws are similar, he can only get max 3 years under "reckless imprudence".

The baby was healthy before given to him, he did not cover the baby´s mouth when dipping him, he was warned the baby did not look ok and did nothing, and after the fact he dissapears for sometime and when caught calims "not guilty"?...Yeah, lets give this dude all the sympathy in the world.

Like I said if you are negligent with newborn´s life there´s nothing else you wouldn´t be with.

  by: jhax   08/02/2010 03:43 AM
  @Jane

The baby was fine before the ceremony, the parents only pointed out that he wasn´t looking good once he´d been submerged in the water.

If that were my child I would have demanded the priest remove him from the water, or I would have grabbed him myself. The priest was negligent to ignore the parents´ concern, but when he did ignore them, they should have stepped in.

  What were they all doing??

According to the report 20 family members were standing around watching! Had they any concern for their child?? They all stood by and did nothing! they are all as guilty as the priest!!

Never understood why they baptize newborns. How much sin can the child have accumulated in only 6 weeks of life? I mean come on. Not to mention the priest drowns him. Craziest story ive heard in a while.

  by: Maddhatter   08/02/2010 04:54 PM
  @Maddhatter

They are baptised to cleanse them of original sin... if ye dunno what that means, go find out.

  by: killer_cain   08/02/2010 06:08 PM
  @Maddhatter

If a baby dies before the age of responsibility (forgot what that is) anyway they dont go to heaven they go to purgatory unless they´re baptised into the church.

At least thats how I remember it, it´s been a while...

  by: jamesmc   08/02/2010 06:10 PM
  @jhax

Its negligent homicide or manslaughter, as it was not a premeditated murder with the current evidence.

All deaths that are not natural causes are not accidents. It will always be someone´s fault.

  by: noisome   08/02/2010 06:21 PM
  @noisome

Precisely, and Im making the case that this is manslaughter.

Accidents happen dude, people die cuz they get hit by a lighting, who´s fault is that?

  by: jhax   08/02/2010 09:11 PM
  Concerned?

You´re concerned about which made up place the baby´s made up post-death continuation is going?

  by: p_g_chris   08/03/2010 04:51 AM
  @jhax

So how does:

"Precisely, and Im making the case that this is manslaughter."

and

"Murder the Priest"

fit?

  by: jamesmc   08/03/2010 10:01 AM
  @james

Read up on the differences between manslaughter and negligence and maybe you´ll get the picture; I can´t do everything for you.

I have no sympathy for baby killers.

"Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest"

When doesn´t murdering priest fit?
