France: Unions Encourage Demonstrations Against Pension Reform Bill

The French government is planning to rise the retirement age from 60 to 62. This caused the six major unions to call for nationwide demonstrations on Oct. 28th and Nov. 6th. More than one million people have already joined the unions´ fight.

The government justifies its plan by saying the law modification may save a lot of money. The pension reform bill is being pushed by the French Senate so that the final version might be sent to the president next week.

During the voting of the Senat today, thousands of demonstrators protested in central Paris.

  I don´t understand
Eventually that same money is going to be used up (2yrs later). How is this saving money? Are they expecting more people to die between 60 and 62?

  Can´t afford Socialism
“The retirement overhaul is needed to balance the pension system’s budget by 2018, Sarkozy says. The changes are part of his effort to reduce the total deficit.”

The people will pay into their version of our Social Security Insurance, which means that is two years they don’t have to pay out in welfare.

In England, they are planning on cutting about 600,000 public sector jobs because they, too do not have the money for Socialism.

These countries cannot afford Socialism any more than Greece and there is not enough money in the entire world if we, the U.S., adopt the same system.
