Pulled by powerful tug boats, the crippled Carnival Splendor docked in San Diego today. More than 3,000 passengers were relieved to be able to disembark after 3 days adrift at sea.
The Splendor, which is twice the size of the Titanic, faced an engine-room fire near the Mexican coast three days ago. Since then, it has been towed 200 miles to San Diego.
The 3,299 passengers cheered as soon as they saw the coast. Carnival is offering a free trip and a full refund. Some passengers, however, might have lost confidence in the cruise company.
