Hundreds Attend Wedding of Two Cambodian Pythons

The owner of the female python, Neth Vy says he brought the snake home 16 years ago and it has brought them prosperity.
Neth was told by a fortune teller that not wedding his snake to another would bring bad luck.

The two-hour ceremony was held in Svay Rolum village and after two Buddhist monks blessed the pythons the villagers showered them with flowers.

The male python, Kroung Pich was brought home by a childless woman who regards it as her son. Animism is the belief that spirits inhabit living things and is prevalent in Cambodia.

funny this made international news. In Cambodia it wasn´t a big deal. It was just a small article at the end of the newspaper. This write up says that the male python was like a son to the woman, but actually she had only just found the snake a week or two prior to the wedding.
a lot of Cambodians (and most of SE Asia) trust soothsayers and make a lot of decisions based on what they say. Soothsayers help people in all aspects of life, everything from what day the wedding should be on to which business venture to invest.

try to figure out what this is (in Thailand btw)
