Jack Lalanne Dies at 96

Fitness guru Jack Lalanne died of respitory failure due to pneumonia at the age of 96 in his home in California this past Sunday. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine, two sons Dan and Jon and a daughter, Yvonne.

Elaine was a frequent partner on Lelanne´s televisised exercise show that ran from the 50´s to the 70´s. Elaine said, "I have not only lost my husband, but the best friend and most loving partner anyone could ever hope for."

Lelanne, son to poor French immigrants and a sugar addict, began exercising when he heard Paul Bragg speak about the benefits of a vegetarian diet including brown rice and whole wheat. Mr. Bragg said to Lelanne, "Jack, you´re a walking garbage can".

I thought he´d live to at least 150....
I started exercising with Jack in the late 50´s when we got our first television. This guy was awesome. I would tell Jack he can stop exercising now and take a break but that just wouldn´t be Jack´s style. You made the world a better place Jack, you will be missed, RIP.

I always figured he´d be hit by a bus or something. Some health nuts piss off karma and get killed in accidents. ;)

RIP, Jack.

  One Heck of A Man
In 1956 when Jack was 42 he set a world record of 1,033 push-ups in 23 minutes.

In 1984 at the age of 70, Jack while handcuffed and shackled swam 1.5 miles while towing 70 boats with 70 people from the Queen´s Way Bridge in the Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary.

This site has a list of this amazing mans accomplishments in strength and stamina.

He made the juicer...

Yeah, he was a influential guy from what I hear. I guess I have to thank for what he did for Health and Fitness in US.
