Egypt Stops Internet to Deal With Massive Protests

Fearing Facebook activists and YouTube realities, the Egyptian government has somehow forced all 4 major Egyptian internet providers and 18 lesser known sites to shut down. Censorship is not uncommon but this is a new precedent.

The ouster of Hosni Mubarak, who´s 30 year presidency has become extremely repressive is being demanded on the streets now with three days of protests and riots. Cell phones services also are being shut down.

Water canons and police batons greeted the return of dissident, ElBaradei, a Nobel laureate.Even the Egyptian football Association has cancelled the weekend league games. The censorship could spread as other Mideast regimes are in turmoil.

You can shut down the internet
but information and news will still travel. Trying to hide the truth is the sign of a tyrannical regime. Perhaps that is one reason why the US wants Assanges head on a pike...

  this is
exactly why obama wants a shut off switch to the inernet!

  Very bad summary
The formatting and wording of the summary itself aside, the details on the ISPs is not in either of the sources.

There´s also nothing about football matches being cancelled and "Water canons and police batons greeted the return of dissident, ElBaradei, a Nobel laureate." is very opinionated. It´s as though you are saying this is all happening just because of ElBaradei.

Also since when is someone´s personal blog considered a news source?

Aside from that, I thought ShortNews was about summarising an article from one source; not picking what you want from several sources(including blogs).

I think it would have been better if you had written two articles from two good sources as this subject is something that´s quite interesting.

Is pushing so he can do the same things to Americans if we resist the upcoming slaughter once the IMF riot hits the U.S.

  @Tetsuru Uzuki
What President Obama should do first is stop the annual 1 billion Euro of US funding of this Mubarak regime.

OT: I thought this (digital) revolution would be harder to start than the Jasmine revolution in Tunis. Jordan and Yemen will be next on the list. Power to the Internet, power to the People!

I have no doubt those two are next. I have a feeling the Suez canal will be closed within the near future, and we´ll have a new oil crisis.

  A good idea, except
this is going to alienate a lot of people. We´ll see how loyal the army is.

  humans need to die
except we can leave small isolated groups of children on islands to maintain our species, then we just wipe everyone else out with some supervirus or something.

if it´s a painless death, ill be the first to go
