William Shatner Records Metal Album

William Shatner is reportedly recording a Metal cover album with various rock legends.

Some of the big names taking part in the album are Zakk Wylde, Peter Frampton, and possibly even Brian May of Queen.

The likely title is "Seeking Major Tom". Various classic metal covers are rumored to be on the album including "Iron Man", "Learn to Fly", "Space Oddity", "She Blinded Me With Sciences", and even a spoken word version of "Bohemian Rhapsody".

  Uh ...

The source article says this is a "hard rock" album, NOT metal, and even hard rock is a real stretch. This track from the album, for example, is New Wave:

You wouldn´t know Metal if you got beheaded by Battle Axetar. Anyways this is what was metal in the 60s and 70s. Your just probably confusing it with glam metal and glam trash of the 80s. And the source does say the album has "Metal Legends".

But I can´t expect you to know anything you don´t look up on some website, because from your sexual preference you probably prefer Elton John or Justin Bieber.

That was a personal attack... childish. Do you represent some political group? I just wanna know cause i want to avoid it.

Anyway, besides that... good for shatner the guy does whatever he wants...

Actually, I usually think of bands like Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, etc. when I think of metal. I know "Iron Man" would be old-school metal. But "Space Oddity" is the epitome of glam rock, and Queen is just hard rock. And Peter Frampton just sucks : )

Well... I know metal and to be sure,

David Bowie and Thomas Dolby didn´t write it and didn´t sing it.

In any event, kudos to Shatner for coming up with a gimmic that might get him back in the spotlight for a minute. I hope a zillion people buy the album. I won´t be one of them.

metal vs hard rock vs. thomas dolby

From the source- ´hard rock´ doesn´t mean metal, and I doubt that it´ll be pushed as metal or even hard rock.... it´s just rock.

Now, ´William Shatner Versus Gwar!´ would be a metal album that I would buy.
