Oil Prices Surge to Over $110/Barrel

Oil prices jumped up to over $110 per barrel, which is the highest price in the last 2 1/2 years. The reason for the surge was the latest 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Japan.

Since September 2008, the prices haven´t reached the current price of $110.44/barrel.

The quake was followed by a tsunami warning, which was lifted two hours later without any damage. The Fukushima-Daiichi plant wasn´t affected by yesterday´s earthquake.

Cause that makes it ok. It would be nice to cap speculation. But must be done in each country.

Japan doesn´t even have oil!

  by: VermiciousG     04/08/2011 03:18 PM
  Wow...

Not only do they not have oil Verm, but the fact that they are picking up the pieces right now means that their consumption just dropped considerably which should have influenced the oil to drop in price. This is simply capitalism at work, squeeze em out of every penny they got till they cant anymore and rise up against you.

Stop looking for terrorists people, they´re right here at home! The sad part is that they gouge us publicly and nothing is done about it, big oil has been in bed with the government for far too long. They used to hide it, now they don´t need to due to our stupidity.

Well said. The dumbing down of the average person is really sickening to me. I amazes me at how stupid most people are.

I don´t care if the gas would cost as much. At least there wouldn´t be some fat cat CEO walking away with my money.

Tell the whole story...

When Bush left office, gas was 1.684.
Per your source.

That´s an increase of $0.21.

Obama takes office and...
-unemployment increases
-price of gas increases
-food prices increase
-forclosures increase
-spending increases
-budget deficits and national debt increases

It´s not looking too good for Barry in 2012.

or perhaps the RNC or something like that. So much propaganda, most of which is totally false, comes out of his comments. Of course Carnold, I myself side with you too. Not because I believe you but rather because the destructive policies which you plainly supported under Bush II but for whatever reason are now against under Obama. I am for the destruction because I think if we can destroy the US a bit faster, we can take it apart and build a newer and better US after the collapse.

"So much propaganda, most of which is totally false, comes out of his comments."

Show me.

What did I say that was false?
Just because you don´t like the information doesn´t make it false.
All of my posts are deeply rooted in facts and I always offer links providing corroborable evidence to my claims.

Obamas term is not over yet - so there is still much room for the oil price to go back down.

We´ll talk again when he leaves office.

Besides: you should tell the whole story. The foreclosures and unemployment Obama has to deal with are the direct result of the desastrous economic politics of the Bush admin. He cause the problems, Obama has to deal with it. So don´t blame Bushs crap on Obama.

I am not saying that Obama is a saint or anything, but fairness demands that we don´t just repeat lies and blame someone for something someone else is responsible for.

>>unemployment increases
Actually, the exact opposite is true: under bush unemployment rose while it went down under omaba:
"In the last year of the Bush administration, the monthly job loss numbers built steadily to a peak which then began to reverse itself during Obama´s first year."
In other words: when Obama took office, he had to deal with the all time high unemployment Bush created.
Source: http://www.bls.gov/...

>>price of gas increases
I just provided the official governmental source which proved that during Bushs reign gas prices rose even higher - so Obama is still WAY ahead of Bush. As I said before: we´ll talk when he leaves office. So don´t make a fool of yourself by repeating pwnd bs.

>>food prices increase
What counts is the overall price, not just one single product category. During the Bush years the consumer price index rose from 175 to 220 - that"s a whopping 25%. For your information: we are still at approx. 220, so Obama kept the overall price steady thus far. Of course it would be better to lower it, but at least he isn´t increasing it like Bush did.
Source: again the U.S. Bureau of Labour Statistics

>>budget deficits and national debt increases
You might want to ask the US Treasury department who will tell you that in the 10 years before Bush, the national dept was somewhere around 4,5-5,5 trillion USD. Only under Bush it experienced a sharp increase to approx. 11 trillion. So Bush almost doubled the national debt which has been kept quite stable over the decades before him - or at least it rose only moderately. You will now say that this was a result of the economic crisis that happened under his watch. Here´s news for you: America is not done recovering from this - so the Obama admin adds more debt for the very same reasons. So if you blame Obama for increasing debt, blame Bush first.
Source: U.S. Treasury Dept Statistics

bla bla bla - want me to bust more of the lies you believe?

I could continue with this - but I won´t because it´s not helping anyone. Obama took over a country which went through an economic crisis which happened during the Bush years and were actually made worse by the Bush policies. Only idiots blame the new president for the natural consequences (higher prices, higher unemployment, more dept etc.) of such crisis, the two wars and the sharp increase in national debt that his predecessor left him. If you really want to go that way then you have to blame Bush for 9/11, too. Because it happened under his watch while he was reading childrens books upside down. Do you really want to go there, Carnold?

>>All of my posts are deeply rooted in facts and I always offer links providing corroborable evidence to my claims.

You provided a link to Foxnews - which is not far off the opposite of "facts".

You do know that you make a fool out of yourself when you make statement like this immediately after you provided a source which is widely known and proven to be one of the most biased propaganda outlets in the US.

You don´t find me "proving you wrong" by quoting the inquirer, now do you?

Ridiculous.

  Progressives....

Bush and Obama are both Progressives backed by George Soros, who is the main guy getting richer from higher oil prices.

Both signed bail outs for companies.
Both believe in an Open Society, one world government...Novus Ordo Seclorum as written on the back of every US dollar just under the Egyptian pyramid.

George Soros was pardoned by Clinton for brokering oil from Saddam Hussein during the embargo.

George Soros owns Media Matters and publishes his propaganda for Liberal talking points that he wants you to believe.

progressives? LMFAO, did the people elect Bernie Sanders? Obama is a corporate bendover, a corporatists. Any decent progressive would have given wall street a kick in the nuts after the economic meltdown, but instead they were give tons of money (just like under Bush).

Since Obama took over? The world is still suffering from the economic meltdown from 2008 when trillions went up in smoke:

That always gave me a giggle.

  The Invisible Hand

The Invisible Hand of Capitalism would have "bitch slapped" Wall Street, which Bush and Obama didn´t want to happen. Their source of election money i.e. Buffet and Soros.
The Progressive would have nationalized it. http://www.bing.com/...

Hey Verm, the birther issue is not the topic but Mae West used to say, "If you got it, flaunt it." If BO has a cert with seals and signatures then he should show it to end this topic. Wouldn´t you show yours if you were pres? Just common sense...

No, actually I´d wait until it showed the possibility of actually having an impact on the election. Then I´d whip it out and watch all the nut jobs scatter like cockroaches in a lightning flash. But then I wasn´t brought up right.

What if the holding back of the original birth certificate was just all one big Rope-A-Dope.

  by: VermiciousG     04/11/2011 10:30 PM
  @verm

Rope-a-dope would be a great plan and give BO a lot credit for being savvy. This is more in line with Warren Buffet, George Soros, David Axelrod, Van Jones, Cass Sunstein, or some other adviser. Obama can´t speak in public without his teleprompter. Remember the campaign? "57 states with two more to go"

Remember Philip Berg´s law suit? This was done to muddy the waters and quash future law suits about this issue.
