Gerard Smith of "TV On The Radio" Dead at 36

Just over a month after it was announced that "TV On The Radio"´s Gerard Smith was battling lung cancer, the musician succumbed to the illness on April 20th, 2011.

Smith had been a member of "TV On The Radio" since 2005, contributing material to the band´s third and fourth albums "Return to Cookie Mountain" and "Dear Science".

In response to the tragedy, "TV On The Radio" canceled the next few dates of their current tour, beginning Wednesday in Detroit.
