Aaron´s Furniture Rental Accused of Spying on Customers

The Aaron´s furniture rental chain, which says it has more than 1,500 stores in the U.S. and Canada, is the subject of a lawsuit saying that a "device and/or software" inside its rental computers spies on customers.

A Wyoming couple says the computer they rented tracked their keystrokes and took screenshots and webcam images of them using the computer. Brian Byrd said a manager showed him a webcam photo of him using the computer when he tried to repossess it.

The manager had mistakenly thought that Byrd hadn´t finished paying for the computer. Byrd said the manager told him he wasn´t supposed to reveal that he had the photo. "It feels like we were pretty much invaded," Byrd said.

  rent a computer?

ffs just go to a library when you need to use a computer if you can´t afford one. either way, at first i assumed that there was camera´s hidden in a sofa or microphones in a couch, but what do you expect when you rent a computer?

there´s an extremely good chance that the software that did this wasn´t put their by the furniture chain and maybe some other customer. of course the manager´s comments(and maybe the source) suggest otherwise.

either way...renting a computer is retarded in many ways

that´s good because now fewer people will rent a computer. I think they plotted it to have fun.

  Renting anything

is kinda stupid if you ask me, aside from general items like a car, power tools from home depot, etc.

I don´t get why people rent computers, tvs, couches, etc..the amount you end up paying..you could have stuck the same thing on layaway or saved it up and then bought and owned the item.
