In an anti-Google campaign, Facebook hired PR giant Burson-Marsteller to spread e-mails defaming Google. They read "Google quietly launches sweeping violation of user privacy!"
Burson-Marsteller asked the well-known privacy blogger Christopher Soghoian via e-mail for support in an article which should be given to the Washington Post, the Huffington Post and other media outlets.
Soghoian then published the e-mail exchange and tried to find out who´s behind it. A few days later, it was announced that Facebook hired Burson.
Google did not comment on the issue.
