Google Defamed by Facebook

In an anti-Google campaign, Facebook hired PR giant Burson-Marsteller to spread e-mails defaming Google. They read "Google quietly launches sweeping violation of user privacy!"

Burson-Marsteller asked the well-known privacy blogger Christopher Soghoian via e-mail for support in an article which should be given to the Washington Post, the Huffington Post and other media outlets.

Soghoian then published the e-mail exchange and tried to find out who´s behind it. A few days later, it was announced that Facebook hired Burson.
Google did not comment on the issue.

  Why?

What´s the connection between my searches for high school friends and my searches for chili recipes? How are they competing? What´s the point?

They compete on internet visits, whoever gets more users.
So far Google has always been number 1.

Also Facebook makes a living out of selling your private info and has the worst security measures to protect it in place.
Maybe they thought by saying Google can´t protect its user´s data then they would somehow look less bad.

On a technical level, Facebook is a novice trivial application, anyone with 2 semesters into any Computer career can replicate it.
Google is a masterpiece.

I agree, Google´s applications are just mind boggling if you really really think about it. Facebook reminds me of a meh website.

I´ve never understood why people are so willing to throw out as much of their life as possible and then complain when a company like Facebook sells their info or has security breeches. You know? Like I knew a woman that was fighting with her daughters because her daughters put their home address on facebook and said that they were 18 and graduated from highschool. They think shes a bad mom for cutting off their net usage completely but, seriously?
