Solar Impulse is a solar-powered plane, which has already shown its ability to fly 26 hours non-stop last year. Over 11,000 solar cells power the zero-fuel aircraft.
At the Paris Air Show, however, the plane couldn´t demonstrate its innovative concept, as the bad weather didn´t allow enough sun to hit the solar panels to power the plane.
The idea for the plane came from aviators Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg. The Solar Impulse flies at a speed of 70km/h and has the wingspan of an A340.
The makers intend to fly non-stop around the world in the Solar Impulse in 2014.
