GOP Raffles Handgun in Gabrielle Gifford´s District

In Pima County, Arizona, the County Republican Party is raffling off a handgun to raise money to help support their candidates in the coming elections. The gun, a Glock .45, has been raffled as a tradition for the Pima County Republicans for years.

What makes this county unique is the fact that it´s represented by Gabrielle Giffords - the victim of a mass shooting only eight months ago. The gun is the same make as the one used to shoot her in the head and was used to kill six others in Tuscon.

Giffords, a Democrat, helped support a lift of a gun ban in DC in 2008 but some in her party are now equating this to "pulling a scab off of a wound," suggesting that they should have changed the item being raffled in light of those tragic events.

I haven´t added news for years, I´m tired and thought the site looked pretty bare-bones.

I tried to stay fair on this one - which was hard. Please read more at the source.

  Nice

...political post without a hint of the typical SN spin.

Im not a spelling Nazi but Tuscon is Tucson.

  Very unbiased.

I like how you put digs in for both sides.

Good show!

  They should have changed it

... this is in very poor taste.

Perhaps you ought to try submitting a story, particularly if you think it´s easy to write a nuanced summary with 225 total keystrokes (that includes spaces).

  I pay a compliment

and someone gets sore. Lighten up, at no point did I indicate it was easy nor did I say anything negative of the submission. I know, the nerve of us dammed "Liberals" to say something supportive

  Gitt em´ Ben!

In the last few days you´ve been compared to Atlas holding the world on his shoulders.

  Sorry

It just always irks me when people who never submit summaries comment on the actual quality of the summary rather than the content.

Plus, as a reporter, I know that the real way to tell if a story is objective is when half the people call the reporter a conservative Nazi and the other half call him a liberal Commie ...

  @Ben_Reilly

You sense some hypocrisy in constructive criticism because they haven´t submitted enough stories?

Or to put it differently, you will only listen to what they have to say if you know them.

  Apology accepted.

Summaries or not I’m impressed by people who are able take a boring, uninspiring article or topic and make it one I feel I need to read. People whose opinion I may be in absolute disagreement with yet can take a divisive story such as abortion or religion and make me question my beliefs. While I´m certainly no reporter or writer (and never claimed to be such) I am of the opinion that those who feel you must be either a conservative Nazi or liberal Commie are 100 percent of what is wrong in Washington DC and on the 24 hour news channel.

There are individuals here I enjoy harassing simply because their only defense is calling me a "liberal". In reality Im not but then they make it being liberal easy.

  Thanks all

I tried hard to keep it fair, seems like I did. I myself can even see both sides of it, even if I personally overwhelmingly side with one argument. Thanks for the correction on the spelling, I´m an overworked police officer and just tired from a long day.

  My point

... is that it´s nigh on impossible to write a story that everybody will find unbiased no matter how many words you get. Here, we´re limited to 225 characters, including spaces.

Yes, NicPre did a nice job presenting both sides. But you can present both sides until the cows come home and some people will still say you "spun" the story. It´s just the nature of the beast.

Liberal Commie fits but conservative Nazi does not fit.

NAZI is shortened way of saying Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (The National Socialist German Workers´ Party)

As a Conservative, I am against Socialism.

If your going to take a jab at Constitutional Conservatives at least use something fitting.

Don´t take it too seriously...
I´m having fun, aren´t you Ben? Oh bty, BO is an idiot... ;P

You beat me to it.
It´s true. Nazis were socialists led by a dictator. Kinda like the path we´re headed now...

It´s no coincidence that CArnold and Mr. Science sound just like these guys:

Education is a good thing , you should have stayed in school.

The party was founded out of the current of the far-right and racist German völkisch nationalist movement and the violent anti-communist Freikorps paramilitary culture that fought against the uprisings of communist revolutionaries in post-World War I Germany

CArnold can´t read or comprehend anything. It doesn´t do any good to try and educate someone who can´t be educated. All he does is spin everything anybody says to fit his distorted view of the world.

You are actually using Wikipedia as your source. ha ha ha

The Communist Party of Russia called themselves Socialist: Union of Soviet Socialist Republic.(USSR) Lennon wanted to spread his version of Marxism around the world.

The NAZI Party of Germany was anti-Big Business, anti-rich, and anti-capitalist National Socialism; therefore, to equate the political Right of Germany to the political Right of America is inaccurate at best.

The traits of being against Big Business, The Rich, and Capitalism sounds more like that of the DEMS than the GOP.
