Philippines: Typhoon Claims Lives of 18 People

Typhoon Nesat hit the Philippines and killed at least 18 people. Residents have already started cleaning up the damaged areas.

The national disaster agency speaks of 48,000 evacuated people and damages which cost about £1.46 million. The storm also passed an important rice crop area. This could have an influence on the rice import.

Typhoons in that area are getting stronger with the changing climate. Weather officials warned that another typhoon could hit the Philippines soon.
