Occupy WallStreet Evicted From Zuccotti Park


Around 1am Tuesday November 15th 2011, inhabitants of the Occupy Wallstreet (OWS) were evicted from Zuccotti park. City officials, once again, claimed that this was for public safety and was concerned for the sanitation of Zuccotti park.

More than 200 people were arrested, among them city council member Ydanis Rodriguez. Pepperspray, tear gas, and batons were used, an LRAD sound cannon was deployed. Over 5000 books (free for anyone to use) were disposed along with the campĀ“s equipment.

During the raid, journalists of all stripes were prevented from entering the park to broadcast during the eviction process. Reporters Julie Walker and Jared Malsin were reportedly arrested.
