Canadian Ski Cross Racer Killed While Racing in Switzerland

Skier Nik Zoricic succumbed to his head injuries after crashing in the finish area at a World Cup Ski Cross event in Switzerland.

The 29-year-old Canadian suffered "severe neutrotrauma" and was immediately taken to a local hospital. The race has been canceled after the accident.

"Nik was a very talented young ski racer and a great athlete who was much loved by his teammates and fellow competitors. He will be greatly missed by all of us and the ski community as a whole," Max Gartner, Alpine Canada president, says.
