Dr. Geoff Wilson is training to beat the world record of crossing the Antarctic in 64 days to raise $1 million for breast cancer, in a breast shaped bobsled, for the McGrath Foundation and for his friend Kate Carlile who is battling the disease.
He is no stranger to these types of adventures, having already crossed the Sahara Desert and the Torres Strait. Dr. Wilson said, "It´s a very high-risk expedition so we really will be taking every precaution possible."
Dr. Wilson´s inspiration is his friend Kate. "She is halfway through her expedition and I´m just about to start. Her bravery will carry me through," he said. The expedition is planned to start in November when the weather is at it´s most favorable.
